I just purchased this off the tb.com forums and I have a few questions.
this is a pt6776re bb and there is a small chip in the wheel. I have taken pictures to let the experts decide whether or not this is usable or needs rebuild
also there is no damage to housing and no damage to the wheel on the exhaust side on damage I can find is 1 chip on wheel and small mark on the leading edge on 2 other blades. see pics below

I wouldnt say it needs rebuilt because of a chip in the small portion of the impeller wheel. I would say it would be fine, looks like one tiny bit of debris got thrown into the intake tract.

Take the compressor side off and look at the wheel there, and then take the exhuast housing off and check to see if the exhaust wheel doesnt have the same damage to it.

I wouldn't use it, it's off balance now and could cause more harm than good..

thanks for the replies anyone know how much the approx cost of a balanced replacement wheel assy. that I can install myself ? (a pair of prebalanced matched wheels ?)

I would do what we did in the AF. Use some red die or red permanent marker and mark the affected area. Keep an eye on it periodically for any signs of further cracking. If you see further hair line cracks developing past the die/marker marks, it's best to repair it vs keep running it. You have to remember, this is very high speed rotational mass we're dealing with. It will eventually wear and break off completely causing alot more damage, how long it will live is unknown. Just remember, the rotating assembly spins anywhere from 30k - 120k rpms.
I would suggest you give PTE or Limit Engineering a call about your repair questions, as prices can very drastically.

Hope this helps.
