Hey guys,
Looking to see how i can go abouts getting the factory door decals for my 87 gn driver door. These are the two decals that are for tire info and vin # explaining also the weight, etc..

Thanks gn / t-type owners. G BODY'S RULE!!:D

I would like to know if there a place that can repro them as well with the original vin#. When my door was creamed I forgot to remove the originals, now I have a regular regal decal on there from the replacement door :(

I could prolly do them. I would need to have one in my hands (exact) or a d@mned good scan of one with accurate dimensions (close).

Would they be made out of the same material, the stiff foil like stuff? And would the lettering be the same as the original with the unique "stamped" look, or however you describe how the unique vehicle info on the original looks?

Before anything is reproduced with a specific VIN number to duplicate an original factory issue item, I would first check to be sure no Federal or State regulation is violated?

if you get something going on this, I'd be really really really intersted!!!

I second 5th 9th this!.... Much wanted. How about the one in the trunk- please!!!!!!!

Can be done. But you would need the originals.

I've made copies of mine just in case.

Now putting new trunk on my Limited going to try to heat and take off the code label. I wll make a copy for the same reason.

Instead of trying to take the original sticker off counln't you take a digital snapshot of it and work from there?

That's why I'd prefer to see the actual piece BEFORE trying to repro it... If it's embossed, well, that's beyond my capabilities for sure!

Nick, if GM ever had any intention of offering these labels, even as a universal generic label, I'd never consider doing this. BUT! As we all know, GM could give a hoot about the end user (look where there product line has gone for proof!). This all started 5 years ago when the GN I bought had no RPO tag in the trunk. After numerous pleas to GM, I finally decided to go a different route. As I no longer own a "GN", I'm not even sure what any of the tags look like any more...

Well, the one I have on mine is from a regular regal, not sure if the GN's had anything unique stamped on them or not, I'm sure the tag it's self is the same and is similar to just about any GM door tag of the era as far as how the "unique" information is printed/stamped on them.
I'm sure I could peel one off at the local yard if they are the same. Don't want to peel mine off because they didn't paint the decal on mine when they painted the car and its white underneath it.

If we are still talking about the tire size. Air pressure,
And where the car was built. I looked at my GN. Doesn't seem to be embossed. And someone brought up a good point. I do believe
that the labels themselves. With different info. Are done the same way.

The reason why I don't like to digitally shoot the piece first. Is size and angle. Rather. Scan and spend time duplicating.
I will go and try and shoot one. Never know.

HTH'ed. I tried. Will let you know how shooting it comes out.
Still think hair dryer is easiest way..........Rob

I agree, GM would not be a concern, but local law enforcement agencies may take a hard look at a vehicle with a "tampered" VIN
decal.

Having dealt with the law and customers on many stolen recoveries, they can impound a vehicle if it even "appears" bogus. Just trying to help as I do not know what other areas would enforce?

I agree with Nick. The reason you cant find the door and trunk labels is because these always have a VIN on them. From my understanding the reason these aren't available is probaly because of liability problems from GM's point of view. The first reason would be the convience to retag a stolen vehicle and I would say the main reason is because GM could be held liable for any emissions violations of a retagged vehicle. It's probally not that big of a deal on a 15 year old car but is on a newer one still under warranty. Also be very aware of any thing with a corporate trademark as GM spends millions a year prosicuting violaters. They have a licensing department that can fill you in on the details at www.gm.com . I have often thought of reproducing some hard to find items such as these labels but the expense is just to great to justify on a small run of just one part.

I have to say I had a good scan of a window sticker and I went a bit crazy replacing the copy vin with mine changing all of the options to match that of my car.
I don't see there being any problem as long as you change the vin to match the car that the sticker is going to. If anything you are replacing the missing piece of identification with a reproduction
