Would like to tackle this common problem this weekend. Are there gaskets between the head and header, between the header and the crossover pipe?

Not from the factory, although someone may have put header/head gaskets on yours.

no gaskets are needed on stock pieces, I just went through this whole problem . I tig welded them and too much heat built up and warped the flange .I bought new headers from postons they are nice headers but stock crossover was a pain to make leak free. So I bought passenger side header and two piece cross-over all jet coated. If you weld the headers yourself use a mig welder use mild steel wire. The header is 304 stainless control how much heat you use . Some guys use a head to bolt up the header then weld it.good luck

I've got 308 SS alloy to load in the mig spool gun with the correct gas, definitely going to bolt it up to an old head...as always thanks for the input.

I welded a piece of flat bar , 1 inch I think , between the 3 and 5 primaries for a brace and never got another crack.

Well...the heat of the repair opened a dormant crack 75% the way around the #5 primary at the header flange:( looking for newer, better parts.

I had mine welded and they cut the flange between the tubes and I havn't had a problem sence and he said he's done this on all that he does with no problems.

thanks
