turbo39151 hands Patrick the mic....
Unfortunately, I don't think it's ever gonna happen. Even if Buick were too somehow bring back the GSX or GNX with a hero model, it would still sell just like the GTOs have/are. There would be a huge response from the public, everyone would want one, until either A. the price was announced at $45 large. And B. No turbocharger worthy enough to really make some decent power would be used. If GM wanted to get Buick back in the game, they would need to produce a GN or GNX that would have 2 doors, rwd, no IRS suspension, that made 400-450hp to the tires, single turbo & intercooled V6 that weighed in at 3400# dry and sold for $28K to $30K. You wanna beat Mopar at their own game and out sell the up coming Challenger? Make the GN/GNX as I said before, then offer an optional GS/GSX model, based on the same platform with retro GS/GSXed body work, with a 500-550hp to the tires LS7 for $38K. There's your recipe for success GM and Buick, wake up and listen to what the real Buick enthusiasts want and will pay for. GMs gonna have a lot of competition in the next few years with the new EVO X, the new Nissan GT-R, the new Challenger, followed by a Cuda of course, then Toyota comes back with a new Supra. By that time, Ford will redo the Mustang with more power. GM has got to stay focused on performance for all of it's product lines. But mostly for Buick IMHO. Don't let Buick die out like you did Olds. We will buy them, you just have to listen to us. We all know the GS and GSXs ruled back in the 70's, and even today. As well as the TRs of the 80's. I'd say general public perception has a lot to do with the amount of certain vehicles produced. I bet if Buick made as many GNs and TRs as Ford made Mustangs, the roles would be reversed. But to me, that is one reason that makes these cars so special. And I could just never bring myself to like a Ford product. No offense to any Ford lovers out there, I give them props. I respect well put together cars, especially anything turbo powered. I'll even give that Turbo Mustang guy who blatantly swung his "pics" in the General Tech forum props for a nice car, but up until just recently with the passing of my friend while driving one, my severe dislike for Mustangs' streak has awoke again. I have witnessed way too many people get hurt and or killed driving one of those short wheel base, overly hyped, way to loud and way too much horsepower for a crappy track Mustang. Maybe someday others will wake up and realize, but I doubt it. HP is a drug and cheap hp is the worst. It's hard to beat cheap parts, millions of cars produced and everybody in their momma having a Mustang race shop. This is another reason some folks are getting turned off about PINKS.
Ok, I'm off my soap box and going to have a drink myself. I still haven't gotten over the loss of my friend.
D@#N MUSTANGS!!!!!
Sigh............
