How fast can you go with a ported stock elbow and a 3 inch kirban db?I know i am getting close that it might start holding me back.

I did back to back testing between a ported Elbow 2.5" DP and a THDP about 8 years ago on a high 11 setup.

The difference was only a .05 sec in difference in Average ET, but 1.5 mph Average increase thru the traps.

At your ET, a THDP will be faster than a ported elbow, but it may not be by much.

J-6,
Unless you have VERY deep pockets you need to listen to the people on the board that have already "been there done that"
NOTHING sounds more ridiculous than a new member that thinks his stock car can have the boost turned up to 25 lbs and run a good number and then arguing with a member that KNOWS better. There are plenty of people on here that will help you achieve your goal of having a fast Buick but you have to listen and learn. Purchase some kind of scan tool, learn how to read it and SLOWLY make changes for improvement. The worst thing you can do right now is to turn up the boost without any knowledge of tuning the car.
Yes there are PLENTY of 10 second cars on this board, as well as 9 second cars, 8 second cars, a couple of the TSO big boys in the 7's. Slow down and learn how to tune, you WILL thank yourself. I know it sucks to hear this because you want it now, we (most of us) have been there too. If you decide to turn up the boost anyway without tuning please stop by the auto parts store and pick up a head gasket set, you will need it( minimally ).
If you have questions just ask, there is a wealth of knowledge here and people that are willing to educate you. Good luck

Bryan

High 11 second car in the 1/8? Around 7.6. I run 6.9's in Huntsville on a mild tune. Low boost and rich.

No im not trying to cut corners I already have the material to make a 3.5 single shot im just experimenting if doesn't work with my combo then well be it.But since were on this topic I have seen two well known Buick guys in North Alabama run similar set-up that have and one ran a 7.25 and one did a 6.90 like you said it does take lots of tuning but I seen it done Im not calling no names but one of them is on this board everyday, and by the way Huntsville is a 1/8 of mile track, people doubt these cars all the time the guy at PTC didn't beleive these cars made the torque that they make so thats why he added another tooth to his 9.5 converter that is selling like crazy so never say never.

Please list your mods so that we can see what you are working with.
By the way we don't doubt these cars, we KNOW what they will do.

Down pipe

I ordered the 3.5inch downpipe from GN1 with the external WG and boost controller seems to be a nice guy to deal with

turning up my boost

To get the most out of my car where do I start is it at 16 or 17 lbs and work my way up I have a scanmaster coming tomorrow with the mods I have which is 218-212 roller, ported heads, cottons frontmount,Gn1 3.5 DP, pt-6152e,

Leave the boost alone until you get the scanmaster. Then get it tuned for 93 fuel & low boost. Once the numbers are good then add some 110 (or an alchy kit would be the best & cheapest over time as its $5 a gallon) & then turn up the boost a few lbs at a time & keep watching the tune. You do have an adjustable Turbo tweak chip for your setup correct. Also a fuel pressure guage on a hose to tape to dash & adjustable regulator for fuel pressure adjustments right? If not you are playing with FIRE! Tuning to go fast & not break parts takes time & patience, but without the proper tools needed to monitor & adjust the tuning its just a crapshoot & the Headgaskets wont be as forgiving at 25lbs boost. Go Slowly & write down everything every run & keep a logbook. After 25 passes you will start to figure it out. You will also figure out that traction & driver skill are a BIG part of the process. Now go have fun tuning!! Thats part of the game some love & some hate but it must be done so may as well enjoy it!

As for the original question I would replace the cat conv with a dump & an electric cutout. Open it 1/4" or all the way with a button in 2 secs & no pulling off caps etc.

With that cam and them heads.. who did the port work on the heads?....what #injectors do you have?....if you have 60# injectors at 18#s of boost you may be close to maxing out on duty cycle.

Went to Huntsville

Went to the track today I ran a 7.35 in the 1/8 my 60ft. was like 1.84 really need to work this out I think my torque converter is to tight I cant build no boost without the car pulling.

sounds like it may be to tight, you should put the mods to your car in your sig so everybody knows what you have and can maybe give some better advise. But a 1.84 60 foot could be alot better. My car will 60 foot any where from 1.70 down to a 1.56 60 ft.

Seen it done on a few cars down here. Here's a few good pics of the fenderwell dump aka "Frankenstein".;) :D

Suspension on your car seems loose. Nose comes up at the hit and then it falls. May be spinning but it looked almost like you lifted for a second and hit again.

I have one of those "Cheesy" dump tubes

tried it out yesterday.

my carb turbo spools like it never has before. and not much louder.

best part is turning the choke on the carb just a slight bit..... makes a nice 1' long flame out of the tube.

I dunno if it made me any faster...... but it sure intimidates the F ucking hell out of the ricers scurred them ****less.
