i was in a local speedshop the other day and i picked up a dynomax race magnum bullet muffler and it looked REALLY high flow. it was basically a straight pipe w/a perforated fiberglass core. it had zero restriction. the guy said they only cost about $35-$40 which is what summit has them for. anyone ever used these. i was thinking of getting as 2.5 inch dual exhaust i.e. hooker system w/o mufflers and putting 2 of these on. how would this sound? i know it would flow really well. would it be obnoxiously drony or have a resonable sound? any personal experiences?

They will be loud...Don't know if u drive ur car, but the local law enforcement wouldn't like it : )

Like STP said it will be loud. But not as loud as the ATR single shot I replaced them with . I had a pair of these bullets on my hooker exhaust. They are definitely free flowing mufflers.

on a mid-hi 11 sec car would there be any real gains going from the hooker mufflers to the dynomaxes? what about a set of dynomaxes on a stock exhaust w/o cat? will drone increase/decrease/stay the same with the dynomaxes?

I use a 3.5 single bullet on my car with a TH style 3.5 downpipe. The exhaust exits in the stock location and it is very loud. If you are a daily driver, I would not recomend this setup because the drone in the car is very loud. Sounds great outside the car tho........I havn't had any problem with the police and I have been around them with the car, maybe it's the redneck, black sunglass wearin',piece of straw hangin' out of their mouth, Bufurd Pusser type cops that Birmingham seems to breed that might cause someone some trouble.

What type of muffler would you guys recommend if you wanted to get away from the loud/droning sound of a dynomax or atr pitbull?
I have the atr 3" single shot setup. It sounds pretty good, but at times I wish it werent so loud (while keeping the flow, of course).

My dad and I used to run a 3'' single stainless steel Borla muffler that sounded great and did not droan in the car. Pricey but should last a lifetime and cost you 2 or 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile

I run them on my 86. Dual 2.5" stainless ATR system with no cat. Let me tell you, they are loud! although not loud enough to attract the attention of the law, unless you nail it in front of them ;)
Yes they have a LLLLOOOUUUUDDDD drone.

But boy, do they flow.

They came into existence to basically run on tracks the "require" exhaust AND muffler. Quiets the car just enough to be legal.
