Anyone know if there's software available that only allows email through that you specify? Such as only those in your personal address book or from certain domains? This would be the ideal spam filter.

You would only receive email from people in your address book and everything else would be blocked.

i think hotmail has a thing like that, it depends on who your email provider is. there is a program out that i heard about on the radio that says they can stop 95% of all spam and you won't loose good stuff either. sounds a little questionable to me but they say it works.

i was trying to not let this get out of fear the spammers might findout but i never get any spam with my email account through iwon. if you need a new address, or are willing to get one, i strongly suggest iwon, i don't even any spam filters set up, i've had my account for ~6 years now and i occasionally give out my address.

i do have another hotmail address i giveo ut for everything, i've got 50 e-mails in one day, i never check it anymore.

TURBO in the topic...

If you don't want to lose your current email address you can try this.

I'm not sure what program you use for checking email, but most including Outlook Express as well as web-based emails, such as yahoo have filters. What you can do is simply give a special word to put in the topic line. Tell all those who you want to hear from what this word is and to place it in the topic line. TURBO for example. Then simply set up your filter to only except email with that in the subject line. Granted, you will have to be careful at first as I'm sure some will forget or be lazy, but that's a good way to keep spammers at bay.
