Not as bad as some think. Modifying is the most expensive aspect of owning the car, never ends. These cars just dont break as they were over engineered.
If they didn't break their re-sale value would be much higher. Part of the reason you can by one for $15k is because like I mentioned earlier repairs and maintenance are expensive and frequent.

Bison...
The video posted is of my SL, I have not had one single issue with the car in the 5 years I've owned it. Change the oil/filter and carry on.
The car makes nearly 520hp and 600tq to the wheels and she's stayed together for multiple 11sec passes, dyno pulls and cruising. Resale value is tied to the fact that yes the cost to maintain is pricey, but thats tied to dealer pricing for service, not because they breakdown. I've been a memeber of a MB forum for years and its rare to hear that a mechanical issue was directly attributed to performance modifications. They do blow engines on rare occasions, but those are usually tied to the tuner getting too crazy or lack of fuel upgrades.

ABC suspension would be the costliest repair if you were to bring it to Mercedes. I can do the job for a 3rd of the price. The E, SL and CL 55s share the same drivetrain parts as the SL65 which has a 12 and twins. Some put out 1000ft of torque with the driveshaft being the weakest link.
Like I said, nearly bullet proof and over engineered.

P.S. knocking on wood;)
