Eagles

Last Sunday I took my nephew out deer hunting as he’s been very curious as to how the whole hunting thing works. While I’ve already shot four deer and my freezer is full I new a neighbor who wanted another. So we shot one and my nephew got to experience everything from the hunt to the harvest (he’s already planning on next year). Any way I knew I would be working from home this week doing taxes so I decided to put the deer carcass in the back yard and see what I could attract. Monday I did not see anything. But Tuesday and today there were eagles coming and going for about 4 hours each day. The carcass is only about 60-75 yards out the back door. The most I’ve seen at once was four.

Thats pretty cool. Your not planning on shooting any are you? It would be sweet to have a stuffed eagle in your house though.

It’s amazing how many eagles there are in this area. They tend to hand out next to the river but travel during the day looking for food. Many pig farmers will take the dead and lay out in the fields and it’s not uncommon to see a couple dozen in one place. My wife took my sister and brother in law to the river Sunday while we were out hunting and they said they saw over 100 eagles in about a half hour.

Very Cool! I gotta move to Iowa!! Went out hunting yesterday afternoon, saw one after dark, too late to shoot. Saturday is the last day of the season, and I have barely hunted this year :frown:

I did manage to get a bobcat a few weeks ago!

What did you do with the cat? I've only seen one ever. My friend shot one this year with a bow but even with a good blood trail he never found it.

7 mag on this one, didn't take a step! Went in the front shoulder, out in mid section. I am getting it mounted, should be ready pretty soon. It was traveling with a male, but couldn't get both. They were moving down a fence line where there is usually a bunch of does and fawns that come out at dark. We have found where they have gotten fawns, but not that often mostly they cause problems on the turkey populations down here. Tell ya the truth, if they didn't cause so many problems with the turkeys like raiding nest, I would leave them alone. Very pretty moving through the woods, but also very dangerous.
