ecm from 86 non turbo compatible?

is a ecm from a 86 regal non turbo compatible to my 85 gn so i can upgrade the ecm ? thanks

read the sticky. whatever has the right ECM # should/will work.

not unless that non turbo Regal came with a 1 of a kind rwd 3.8 with SEFI but not a turbo..
the NA Regals all had carburetors and distributors, and thus a less sophisticated ecm. but 86 and 87 fwd LeSabres did have SEFI equipped non turbo 3.8's in them and used the exact same ecm as the 86 and 87 GN- they probably made over a million of those cars over those 2 years, and this is why you can get the proper ecm for $40 at pretty much any junkyard.
