ECU Communications Error

I wanted to "play" with my program using a new computer, but I was unable to communicate with the ECU. When I hit F2, this error was displayed: 'ENABLE TO ESTABLISH ECU COMMUNICATIONS (-23). My new computer is a P3 running Windows ME. I checked to be sure COM1 was active, and my system says it is. My old computer is a 386, and I double-checked it - it works fine. Could it be the software? I am running Cal-Com v1.30. Any other ideas? Thanks.

You mean windows 98 right, or windows 2000?

try this, go to start, programs, msdos prompt put a blank floppy in
and type at the c prompt sys a:
this will make a boot disk reboot from the disk again
get back to the c: prompt then by typeing cd\
then you should type the folowing line


cd\c-com
cc.exe


and c-com should work

Actually, what I mean is Windows Millenium Edition (ME). I'll try your suggestion about the boot disk, but Cal-Com did load and the dash boards did come up, but as I said, when I hit F2, I got the error; so maybe there isn't anything wrong with the software? Thanks for the suggestions; any others?

the software is fine, just windows is managing the com port, and causing it not to communicate.

Windows and COM1 Port

That seems reasonable to me. So is an adjsutemnt needed in the BIOS? If so, what would it be? Thanks.

The serial port maybe disabled, but if its not you may have to run from the boot disk everytime,. Or get the windows version of c-com, or format the hard drive and put in windows 98 from scratch.
