I’ve always used a razor and shaving cream but I’m considering trying an electric razor. My wife was out shopping the other night and I had her take a peek at what is available. There is quite a bit out there some wet some dry, two heads or three, and price from $20-$140.
What’s the good? What’s the bad? What are you using?

I used both the cheap and expensive ones. All I can say is stay away from the cheap ones. They tear the hair out and dont last long. They are like anything else, you get what you pay for. I eventually went back to razor and shaving cream.

I used to run a Braun - I don't remember the model but it was around $125. It worked really good. This was back around 2001. It had a ni-cad battery that lasted a few years. They probably have better batteries now, but when mine quit I went back to a razor.

Stick with the razor. Unless you have severe shaving bumps, you'll just be wasting your time, literally. It takes 3 times as long to shave using an electric razor than a disposable. They can give you a really close shave, but you'll definitely be putting your time in.

I think I've tried them all over the years. 2 things:

1. It takes way more time to shave electrically.
2. NO electric shaver I've tried could match a blade(s) for closeness.

Oh, forgot. Electrics also cause a LOT more irritation. Probably because of the time it takes.

Wow not exactly what I thought I would here. Sounds like the razor is the way to go.

Stick with the razor. I have tried them all and always went back. I never felt like I ever got a good shave with an electric. Even the expensive ones. I also experience way too much skin rash from them. Just my experience anyway.

I've found one electric razor that worked well, cut close and quickly and was cheap ($19.00) at K-mart. Damn screens cost more than the razor and wore out in 3 months. Tried them all stick with a razor and cream.

It also depends on how thick your hair is. My brother in-law is pretty hairy and has to shave daily, so he wears the electric ones out and switched back to blades. I don't have to shave every day so electric works for me. I do have razors as a back up though. They also give me a closer shave. For me the 3 head shavers work better than the one head one. Bought one of those and it didn't work well.

Use this instead. Or be a real man and don't shave at all.

I went through disposable razors and good electric ones. I am sold on the adjustable, double edge razor I picked up off ebay. The blades are around $.50 each and last for a few shaves. The thing was made in 1957 and is in near perfect shape even after me using it for four years.

I use a 3 headed Norelco cordless. Works well. The only time it rips my hair out is when I've not shaved for about a week so it's incentive to keep shaving I guess. I can't go back to razors and cream. They irritate my skin.

Only one way to go here "Gillette Fusion"!!! If you haven't taken a loan out to buy a pack, do yourself a favor, and do it! The razors might cost more but 1 blade will last several weeks or months, depending on how often you shave and hair thickness. I shave about atleast three times a week face and head (cause I'm bold). I get about two months out of one razor. That's if my wife doesn't slip in a shave on herself here and there using my razor. I have noticed the blade with the orange last longer than the ones with the blue and orange cost a little more. Plus turn the blade over and it has another blade for shaving tight spots. Pretty much, one pass with this blade and your done. Anybody that's tried this blade that I work with because of my recommendation have thanked me.

Laugh if you want, but I use the women's razor Venus in the shower. No cream or gel.;) Takes about 2 minutes! Convenience:biggrin:

I don't WANT to know what you're shaving in the shower.

Seriously guys, it takes a while for your face to become conditioned to an electric, sounds silly but it's true after a month or so it will cut closer.

The other key is to keep it clean one of the braun's with the clean and charge will cut well for a LONG time.

Gillette Mach 3/ Edge Gel. The only way to go!

X2 I get the edge that 'lifts dirt and oils out of the pores' and it works well as I work in the oil field and get pretty dirty. I also have a Braun that I like. I use it to get a quick shave in before going out at night to kid functions if I don't have time for a full on shower/shave activity.
