My 87 GN has the regular, mechanical climate control(the switch and levers that you have to slide by hand). I was wondering if the touch-pad electronic control(for heater, A/C, vent) would work???? Can I just swap them out? Or do they have completely different was of being hooked up from the back??? My friend is selling one, and if it would work in my car, I might try it. I'm just asking before I go thru the hassle of taking mine out, installing his, and having it NOT work right......all in 20* COLD!

There were 2 different HVAC systems available in the Regals through 1986. The C60 system is the manual system you have. The C68 Touch Climate Control system has many parts that were different that the C60 system. The system components included: Control head, programmer, blower control module, aspirator, specific wiring and vacumm harness. The C68 also had a unique glove box liner to allow clearance for the programmer (the part that moved the temp and mode doors).

You can change a C60 system over to C68 but you will need to take all the unique parts and install them on your car. Dennis Kirban can probably give you a complete list of the unique parts.

Thanks Dave,

You just saved me a lot of hassle! I thought the control unit could just be swapped. I think I'll stay with my old one. Why "fix" it if it isn't broken.
