There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And it might be a bearing
Correct, I beleive the guy I got it from (Steve Pucchini, KY) did that fine motor work. Engine was quiet at idle but heard a slight knock when giving throttle agter getting it home. I should have known when he said the car was rowdy with a race gas chip in it.... clevite .10 under on those bearings Earl. Oil pickup had some rtv in it.GOOD GOD, that crank took a beating!
Check out how much #3 is curled up.
Plus, the thrust bearing has the sides worn down to copper but not the middle. Looks like the front cap wan't true when it was installed.
I kinda wonder who built that engine before you got it (or if it was slapped together to get the car sold).
Just for kicks, what brand and size are those bearings?
Your are right. We shouldn’t be making jokes at the OP’s expense. But catastrophic engine failure always gathers a crowd. Some of these "funny" comments are at the expense of the OP. Not sure if it was necessary. But i hope he can find his way into a better rebuild than the last one.
