Engine Sludge!!!

gotta question had an engine sitting outside intake on water got in it removed intake & pan has sludge do i or should i completely dissasemble or could i just flush the engine???

the answer is.... 'it depends'. If all you got was some moisture in the pan and you caught it early, drop the pan and dry out the engine. If the engines been sitting outside for years..... well.... you know.

If it's gooey sludge, get all you can scraped out. If it's just watery goo, mineral spirits works well if you have a way to spray it and wash it into a large pan for disposal with your motor oil. I have an air gun with a syphon hose that I use to spray clean blocks, heads, etc. Home Depot or any house paint store sells mineral spirits, but it is not cheap. Do not use gasoline!
