I have. Always from the people who "know cars" and can rebuild anything from a sbc to an old washing machine engine and still turn ten's. They don't even have to look at your car. It's a SIX!

Something I've done.....you can always tell them the car won't spin the tires from mashing it at a dead stop. After you beat their car you can tell them about the benefits of a boosted launch;)

This machine shop

This machine shop I dealt with earlier this week all but called these motors POS and claimed you can't go real fast or race with the turbo V6 engine. :mad:Sure you could go faster with a twin turbo SBC ( Chris Chow) or SBF but for them to get spanked at the track by a unopened V6 is quite funny. In live around Red Necks what more can I say. I was at a local car show and found a pritine GN with a nice edelbrock chrome air cleaner and 350 chevy that everyone was crowded around:eek:

i was talking to a guy that runs a speed shop around here, he really does know his stuff, i thought anways. so we got to talking i told him how i was wanting to lightly build my motor, 30 over and forged parts. that along with a turbo and ic should have me in the low 11's, all he could do is laugh at me. he said it was possible, but it would be way cheaper to do it with a twin turboed bbc, be more reliable and be just as streetable. i agree with more reliable, it wouldn't take much to get a tt bbc in the 11's but cheaper??? HA!

thats ok, when i do it then i'll be the one laughing.

Lol, my dad was yelling at me for buying the slicks saying I wouldnt be able to turn the tires with them because its just a six cylinder. I mean 400 horsepower is 400 horsepower dont matter how many cylinders you have.:o

I remember along time ago.. before the wreck... some kid in a late 80s early 90s camaro asked me if my car was a v8? I said no its a v6, he started laughing and said i should get a v8 if i wanted to go fast. At this point i laughed at him and rolled up my window. And revved once. He returned the rev. Then I Started to Brake boost thanks to the nittos that were out back.

It was humilation, i probaly pulled a million cars on him by 60. It was like i was 4 cars ahead by the time he crossed the intersection.. then by the time i hit 60 and shut her down. I was more like 5 busslengths ahead of him. Came to a stop light. He pulld up. and never looked at me. I rolled down my window and said. "Man that v8 camaro is pretty fast eh?" He looked over at me and shook his head. I said "Hows that for a 6?" He immedatly ran a red light and got in the turn lane just to get away from me.

I saw him later and stalked him for about 5 min. this time i pulled up beside him and he had a girl in the car. I said. "Nice z28, wanna run em? Im only a v6.' You have a v8. His girl said. Race him! Show that granny car what this camaro will do!" I said "Babe that slomaro aint got shiit on this buick, ask him what happend 20 min ago." She looked at him and he didnt say anything." So i took off normal. and he took off slower. and i looked in my rear view and saw he was trying to do a flyby. I was like. Oh NO you dont! and i waited. he was probaly comming up on me 25-30mph faster.

So.. i waited till he was 2 cars roughly behind me. and Hit it. By the time he hit my bumper my car downshifted and broke traction pretty dam good. I think his front bumper got to my door? but anyway as soon as i caught traction i pulled about 5 cars on him from a 60-100 roll. Then i slowed way down and looked in my rear view. I saw his girl laughing at him. So i stuck my hand out the T-top and waved, and turned on my flashers. He then turnd off. That was the last i seen of him all night!

Damn Ricers!

I've heard those comments many, many times before. Usually they came along with the "Nice MC SS" comment. When they would say whay not drop a 350 in there, car will be fast then, I would look at them and shrug..."Why would I want to slow the car down by dropping in a V8". What really got their attention was when they asked what it ran in the 1/8 or 1/4.....I'm sure they expected 9's in the 1/8....When I said low 7's at 95-96 mph in the 1/8, low 11's at 119 in the 1/4, I would get the   look. They never could understand how a little V6 was so much faster than a big ol V8. Rednecks....what can you say...lol. I think the most fun I ever had with the 87 was the one night I drove it to the local 1/8 track, then on pump gas and BFG radial T/As, proceeded to run 8.0's at 91-92 mph. I lmao every time I remember the slack-jawed looks of disbelief when people realized I was on street tires and a V6 under the hood. That's why I have got to get my hands on another turbo Buick.....love the shock and awe reaction from the locals...:D

You guys should get the chance to this with a turbo Riviera. Talk about your Grandmas car. Nobody ever gives the Riv a second glance so I have to coerce them into a race. My favorites are rice-boys, "hey your car is FWD, so is mine" and the LT1 Impala SS guys, "you shouldn't have any problem beating a V-6 with your V-8". I can hardly what for the day I actually build some power into one of them.

I wanna see a 3.8L turbo in a park ave. Ultimate sleeper. FWD, two doors too many, etc etc. Far as it goes, I thought one fellow put it best about the 350. "throw it in the trunk, I need traction"
