Exhaust housing porting questions with pictures.
I don’t think it would be safe to port the inlet section of the housing to the carbon line.
But I’d like to get it close.

Also how do you guys leave for the puck to site on for a good seal?

I would take 1/8" or so all the way around the inlet of the turbo (Is that a stock exhaust housing? I didn't remember a carbon ring on any of my turbos, they all seemed to be bigger than the header)
Port the wastegate hole so there is 1/8" all the way around where the puck sits.

i just went through the whole porting thing. i left between 1/8 and1/16 and it wasn't enough. i could only get my boost down to 24 with hd actuator. i pulled it apart and ported a 2nd time leaving only 50 thousands and now i have a solid 18 pds of boost. i just don't wanna see you do it twice like i did. hth tim

Also if you screw up and go too far on the wastegate hole Rjc makes a plate to fix that.

On the housings inlet side, is it worth it to take out a 1/8 off of the carbon line?
OR
Should I just leave it alone?

It is always worth it to get rid of obstructions in the pth of airflow. Just make sure you have enough meat left over on the flange to make a good seal, and port away...jmo.

Go look in the engine sticky's under follow my port and polish project. I think you'll find your answer there. I think it's on the third page but read it all for information sake.

Thanks for the reply
But he doesn't remember if he ported that specific part of the turbo. He said he would check when he pulls the turbo.
