faded paint on locks...

The black paint on the locks on my car is faded along with some scratching.

Has anyone done anything to repaint these?

Can you just mask them off and spray paint them say a flat black.

2 option as I see it, either buy a new set OR go to a lock smith and they will have just the black cap and you can take your locks apart and replace just the black cap with a brand new set.

I tried painting them on my old 84 Firebird but it's hard to get the paing to last ...

I painted them when I first got the car. So far it has held up good.
