Fan relay question

I removed this relay due to it making a " Clicking " noise after I killed the car and didn't want a fire some time back . My fan comes on with this relay gone but I'm thinking bout upgrading fans . What does it do if ever thing works as it should ?

fan delay relay ..leave it off

That's the fan delay relay, leave it unplugged, usually end up kicking on at odd times even when the car is cold, draining the battery, and stranding you needing a jump start.

That fan delay relay was one the good ideas but a flaw in GN’s. Many say jus take it off and throw it away. They also say it eventually does more harm than good. There’s a lot of threads about it. All it does is keeps the fan running after the car is shut off. The reason for it being a flaw is that the relay was not sealed from factory soo thru the years it starts to rust and goes bad
