Fan running high - Any ideas?

85 GN. Fan runs high as soon as I start engine. Stays running high whenever I'm on the throttle, and won't drop back down until she's cruising at a constant speed. Sounds cool when you step on the gas, but it's sucking horsepower and I know it ain't right. Any ideas?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't an '85 come with a mechanical clutch fan? If so then the electric fan was user installed, and the wiring for it would be custom.

sounds like your fan clutch has issues.

Good call!! Thanks guys. Didn't see it at first, but clutch had failed bearing. Just did the swap, and added new water pump for good measure. Running normal again. HP is back!
