Well today is a black day for those of us that grew up taking pictures of family and friends. Kodak has filed for bankruptcy today. A company that's been in business since 1889 and the original owner started doing photographic work in 1880. I used Kodak equipment an supplies when I was a kid and developed many a picture in the darkroom on their paper over the years. I'm sure some of what they do will survive but it's just sad that a company that created and marketed the first camera for the general public and created digital technology will be gone from the world.:frown:

Read about the history of the company and you'll be suprised how much they did over the century plus of being in business.

Unfortunately, the paradigm has shifted.

It is a sad day, but time marches on.

I worked on a construction project at the Wang towers in Lowell, Ma in 1995, it was a fit-up of the 4th floor for Kodak...still remember riding an elevator up with a couple of kodak employees, they were commenting on how it's a changing world...doubt they ever thought this day would come...My uncle retired after 30 years with Polaroid w/ full health insurance and pension from them around the same time, year later he got the rug pulled out from under him when they went belly up...all good things come to an end it seems

I live just outside of Rochester NY and watched the slow demise of Kodak. If you can imagine that back in 1996 they employed over 60,000 in Rochester alone, now they are down to about 7000 locally. Many of the tradesmen I work with now came from Kodak during the down sizing and are sick over what is happening. In Rochester they numbered the buildings that you worked at and it is well into the 300's, they have property everywhere!
What a shame.:frown: Sam
