 The laptop tries to connect but then says it cant access the ECU. Anyone have a starting point on what I should look for thats maybe causing this. Also should my program say DEMO on it? This is the very last of MANY MANY MANY problems with this project. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Is the key on? You can't communicate when the key is off.

Next, what kind of laptop are you using? Toshibas tend to give big problems.

Are you using the right COM port setting?

Just a couple of thoughts to start...

Demo Mode will go away the first time that Calcom communicates with the ECM.

I guess I should try the search function more often :) I didnt know FAST was that widely used by the buick guys ;). Im really hoping its the problem where the wires are reversed on the connector, which I seem to think it is. Hopefully this thing gets fired up here soon as its been sitting for about 2 years now  Thanks to getting some heads that were ported into the waterjackets.

That was the problem, the two outside wires were reversed on the FAST connector

what connectors are u talking about cause mine is doing the same thing, i have the key on "ON" position and the my laptop cant detect the ecu.
