Im overseas. Would like to pick up a moped. Dont want to deal with the extra hassle. Will still to the 50cc and below. Dont know the first thing about mopeds. What are some quick out of the box mopeds. I know everything can be modified.....just looking for something to start with and keeps up with traffic.

I went with a Burgman 650. Great ride and fast.

Cool looking bike. Dont see them here for sale. Need a 50cc to beat the road tax and licensee issue. Nuff said. Just need some thing that will do about 75kph. with my fat ass on it. Motocycle are cool to ride. I need something small to jump on and off and can hold some bags. Like a basket or a hook on rack to hold some grocery bags. Not a racer......but if it can be made to go quicker and not mess up my plans then so be it..

My boss's kid has a Honda Ruckus. It's pretty rugged and according to my boss, fast for a 50cc.

Howzit?!

Honda Ruckus, Yamaha Jazz or Aprilia would be a good bet. Vespa too as finding used should be easy overseas. For hooks and racks, you could always just pick up surfboard carriers like you'd see in Haleiwa!

I'd stick with something mainstream for parts, mods and repair just being easier... Things like Givi storage boxes and racks would be easier to find. To keep up with traffic, you could also do a big bore kit to get some more pep and to still pass as a 50cc too when inspection comes.

One of my fav tech sites:

Dont see the Ruckus Jazz available here. There is one sr50 the country and its a basket case. There are vespas but all larger than 50cc. only 3 50cc bikes from the 90s. Mondial shops are everywere. Know nothing about them. This is the site I am using. http://www.sahibinden.com/en/

I would definately stay away from the cheap no name china bikes. They are carbed and in this area they get messed up by the ethanol in the gas. They are also cheaply made. I woundn't trust the welds.

Yah, stick with the Yamaha "Neo's", Suzuki Katana 50 and Honda Today 50. Those are probably closest to what we have here and the most mainstream you'll find.

You'd be surprised how much fun they are!

See a few Neos far away. Cant find a listing for the Suzuki Katana. Looks Like the Honda Today may be the only choice. Are there any webpages with tips and tricks for the honda today? Is it available in the states? Is it Carbed....cant find it online.

There are scooter forums out there. I'm sure you can find info on what ever scooter you end up with.

I used have a Negrini. I put a speed kit which included a bored out cylinder, head and piston. It went a 'tad over 50 mph. Problem was stopping from that speed.
