Fastest Pump Gas / Alky Cars (updated 10.07.18)

I'll add Dennis Hogan's 9.91@ 136+ on pump and alky. StageII block, 274 CID, TA SE heads ported by some knucle head (me) and a ported Champion intake. This is with a stock ECM, Turbo Tweak chip, SLIC, Three mufflers, 3" downpipe, stock ignition, 3350 lb race weight, and driven by a 70+ year old hot rodder. 200-4R by Dr. Dave Splett (425-774-4966)I have been building/modifying his cars for nearly 29 years. He races his car just as he drives it on the street. He does not change anything, except spark plugs........,maybe.

My only job now is making sure the alky is full :) Old age has some advantages.

Dan,
I have rebuilt/replaced a few engines for him because he ran out of alcohol. One time it popped the head gaskets so bad a fire ring was wrapped around a push rod. LOL.
I R&R'd the gaskets (even though a piston was hurt) and he went back to the track. Came back after running 11.1's all day saying it had a funny knock. I pulled the engine and found both middle main caps cracked and the block cracked up to the cam centerline. That poor old 109 block lived with those cracks while running 11.1's. This was probably 20 yrs ago. When I pulled #2 cap out, it fell into two pieces in my hand, but looked fine bolted in the engine. Bearings looked good, too. Weird.
 
Dammmmm it's dead in here !!!!! Now can I get on the list with a Mazda ?? Just 6 runs on it. Have to work out some "issue's" with the suspension . Pulls to the right a little a lifts the left side tire a LOT . Russ thought it was goin to tip over. He has NO faith in me ! Car weighs 3324#s race ready. Kinda tight with my fat ass in there with all the SFI stuff. I thought I was doin pretty good till I saw Melissa's slip :mad: Plus she is 400#s heavier .. Guess I have a long road ahead of me :(

I don't think they update this list anymore.. 99% of guys were afraid to go a whole 1/4 mile so they just go 1/8th now.. I know I know the pussification of Buick Turbo's . What the hell is the Buick world coming to ??!! :mad: An don't give me the crap about 1/8 mile racing is cheaper because NOTHING breaks :rolleyes::grumpy:
 
i think the bigger reason is these cars have gotten quicker an the track wont let us run them out without full legal cage and a comp license and guys are still hesitant to full cage their cars ..hell some don't even want to do a roll bar ...so they switched to 1/8th format also some of the tracks they run at are only 1/8 mile .. as for the no cage thing the cars are fast even running just 1/8th they should have a full cage as most bad wrecks happen before the 1/8th
I picked up the 87TTop GN with a cage as a stripped roller (i parted it out for a friend) , got it certified and dropped in a motor-trans-converter-driveshaft -rear that could make a run at the 8s, then got my comp license so I could run faster than 10.0s without worry about getting tossed , my 86GN has just a roll bar (and all other required safety equip ) and like Melissa i have to run to the 1/8 lift and hit the brakes to keep from getting in trouble and still almost run a nine at 90mph at the traps . atco is one of the few that would let me get a pass in the 86GN with no consequences but at mid nines 145+ should i really be running with just a roll bar ..getting too old to do stupid things

well our cars are legal . My race director Melissa is worst than the tracks. :D 1/8th mile crash can still be very ugly especially with no safety stuff. ".getting too old to do stupid things" I can relate believe me !!! My new 427 Cobra plastic fantastic will never see the track !! Has NOTHING !! Hard to believe what I did back then.

The list is a couple guys behind and new times posted to the thread were never updated... We need a mod to update it. There was a lot of work put in the list, a shame to let it die....

Yup I got the boot years ago on multiple tracks with my fast street car and had enough.love to see what the current combo would do on a racetrack but it is what it is.I can only estimate on what I put behind me.
