I just got back from Ft.Smith AR and was over there getting supplies for our buisness and while I was there I wanted to get something to drink so I pulled into a zip trip and as I was walking to the front of the store a man said,"Is that one of those FBI cars?" I told him no but I had heard rumors that they had some of those cars. He told me they sure did because one day the FBI and the ATF showed up at his house to arrest him and one of those cars were there. I asked him who was driving the GN the FBI or ATF? He said the man wearing the FBI shirt did,I did see him get in it. I did ask before he walked off what were they arresting him for and he said illegal weapons! I said ok, have a nice day and he walked off!! So maybe it is true that GNs were used by the FBI or maybe it was someones personal car, who knows?

I don't think I will ever believe it. In the end, there is no replacement for displacement for a quick and easy fast car.

As much as we love these cars and as fast as we can get them, there will always be a big block with more money in it that can stomp them and I just don't see the FBI investing the money for GN.

Just MHO

Since you both are relatively new to the board, and probably the turbo Buick world, this may be "new" info to you, but yes the FBI DID have some T-R's in 1987.

Maybe you were not even into cars then, but there were VERY few modified big blocks on the street that could out run a GN. Even the Corvette was no match for the GN in those days.:)

Stick around and be nice, and some of us "old guys" can supply even more interesting info, not rumors, about these cars - we were there!

Local Police, State Police , & the FEDS used them. The Connecticut State Police had them for years but only caught me once

I am new to this board since the end of january of this year, but not to the muscle car era. I know what they are all about. I bought a new 87GN and had a 69 Z-28 in 1969 and have had several GNs over the years and 69 Zs to. But, I know I have read on this board back before I became a member that there were some post about this very thing. Some said it was a a fact and some said it was not so. I was mearly telling the turbo world what a man said to me this morning.:)

Ill never forget goin to the Gatornationals in Fl with my 86 GN in 1987. Driving threw Ct in a snow storm!! 3 other idiots in the car and this other Buick comes up beside us.. NO way was I goin to let him by us. (hey I had moral supports in the car) !! Speed limit was 65 and we were doin 65!! Blues came on! gave us a warning for goin to fast in "conditions" ahhhh...the old days :p

Enon, Ohio Police Department had 1 GN.
I believe it was sold at an auction in the 90s and was purchased locally.
I still see it around once in a while.

I believe Ct just had "T"'s.. Went by them a lot goin to E town, Atco and Cecil County for the BIG Buick events:cool:

No Grumpy, CT State Police did have GN's. Quite a few too!! I remember seeing them all the time back then. I also know quite a few people who bought them at the CT vehicle surplus auctions back in the day. My dark garnet red 87 'T' is an ex CT State Police 'chase car'. :D I also have a CT State Police poster from 1987-88 with a GN, Mustang, Crown Vics and a motorcycle all lined up with warning about drinking and driving and to remember the 'Chase Car', lol.
