Filter options

Need to replace the trans pan gasket and curious as to switching to the 700 filter and adding an inch to stock pan to allow for this. Is this doable / sensible?
Are there any reasons not to? Just thought deeper pan with drain plug can't hurt?

Any tips or advice.....................

T/A alum pan here. 700 filter, too.

I just put the 700r4 filter in under the stock pan. If you decide to do it this way you need to do something about the filter contacting and grounding out the pressure switch in the vb.
