Well shes been up at Dynotech for almost a week now. Getting a new built trans and a new 3200 stall converter installed. It took me long enough but I finally got a chance to stop at Dynotech and sit and talk with Eric and he was extremly knowledgeable. While it was there I asked him to look over the rest of the car for anything else he could see that needed help. The previous company who had worked on it did some pretty shoddy work on it before I bought the car so i'm confident this thing should come back like a beast.

Heres what it ran last time out :

Think I could break into some low 12's? :D

Low 12s easy. 11's will be fairly easy as well. As long as you get decent 60' times. 1.70s or better.

If you still have those ATR chips, you might want to consider upgrading them. Chips have come a long way since 1992. Let us know how it turns out.

A PT61 is good to low 11's if you have good flowing heads. Atleast high 11's.

Really high 11's? That would be damn awesome to see an 11.xx out of it. I'm getting real excited to get it back and see how it turns out.

Ohhhhh yeah I stole the turbotweak chip + 60 lbs injectors off the T Type and that seemed to do alot as it is. The 02 volts are staying much more stable and seem to be in the low 800 as boost hits and levels off into the high 700's in the upper rpms. I haven't really been able to see since the trans just wouldn't shift at WOT at all.

Also traded up my ATR gate that was giving me unreliable boost levels no matter what I did for a Turbonetics Evolution which is dead on perfect. Stayed on 15 PSI without a problem. I wonder how much more boost I can get away with now. I had no knock (Except for shifts) at 15. I guess i'll just increase it until I see any knock.

You will need 20+ lbs to crack into the 11s. That is assuming a good 60'. I would guess 21-23 lbs. and a mid 1.6 60' to crack into the 11's.

You should crack 11's on a mild tune. All these cars need is sufficient fuel and boost. Let us know what it runs.

It will run mid 12's

What it can and what it runs are two different.

Turbo is to large for his combo.

61 with a 3200 stall, with a good tune, spool up shouldn't be a problem.

I have pretty much the exact same combo, minus the downpipe and exhuast,
turbo works well.

Make it sound like 11's are a piece of cake.. they are once all is figured out.

When the car is taken to the track.. the results will be posted.

What if I said, it should run 11.0's since there was a TTA with a stock longblock ran 11.3 with a TA49 which is a way smaller turbo..

F8L WS6, your goal of low 12's is very doable.. a little traction, boost, and tuning.

We have such a wealth of combo's in the track times part of the Faq's..

Its great to see someone hit an 11... but dont want to have someone feel there is something wrong with a mid 12. As long as fun is happening.. its all good.

Thank you for all the guesses on what it will run. I honestly think it will probably do a 12.x. 11's are a tough barrier to break but I suppose it could be possible. I'm not too worried about track times really. I just love this car! And like said times don't matter a whole lot to me. I just love going down the track. Hell my old 15 second 305 TBI Firebird was fun to get down the track then lower tire pressure and screw with a few things and knock a couple tenths off.

But it flat out HAULS ASS now. Its unbelievable. Dynotech really did an amazing job with it. Shifts hard enough to throw you out the back of the car. The stall is great. Its tight enough to feel like there isn't even a stall but when you brake boost it the rpms come right up there nice. Honestly I didn't even look to see if any boost came in when I tried it since it was just too exciting. And I knew if I let out it would just melt tires forever. ;)

The spool up is actually decently quick when I stand on it. It's much better than my last trip out to the track. Found out I was missing Wastegate gaskets which was killing the spool which Dynotech discovered and took care of for me. All and all I think all I have left to do is a good ammount of tuning and learning how to tune and i'll be set.

I'm going to take it to my cruise night here tomorrow and i'll put it through a run. The track lets anyone come and do 1 free run so i'll see where it stands there. It definetly needs some tuning done though. I'm down to 13 psi before I see knock so i'll work with the Translator + and the fuel pressure. I'm guessing I should be able to get it up to around 15 or so.

Which converter did you get? Did you get any billet parts in the trans?

I'm honestly not sure I don't remember what he said. I told Eric what to do and he made it happen and did an awesome job at that. I'll ask him about it when I head back in a week or 2 for my other car while i'm there.

Missed out on the track Tuesday, so i'm going tonight. I'll let ya know how it turns out. :D

Hey I just got back.

Well lets put it this way. It ended up more of a test and tune trip. ;)

I was playing with the T+ all night before and after track so I think i'm getting the hang of it. My last run might have shown alot of improvement had I gotten any traction. I've only messed with the adding fuel @ WOT so far. Haven't touched timing yet.

Run 1 - Brake boosted a little to get a feel for it. Didn't leave too hard. Saw about 13 - 14 psi and started going into the 600's on volts and saw 3.3 of knock and let off a little near the end to a 13.5 @ 102

Run 2 - Added some more fuel at WOT with T+ and left boost alone. Left the line without brake boosting at all since I was playing with Scanmaster so I just floored it. 0 Knock the entire trip and volts just above 800 @ same psi and ended up 13.9 @ just shy of 105. 2.2 60.

Run 3 - Added what I thought was 1 psi of boost and another notch of fuel on the T+ just in case. Brake boosted it enough to actually see the boost needle move up to just about 1 when the light hit and I let loose. Boost came on instantly and I Spun 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd before it caught like midway down the track practically (I got a vid my GF took looks like i'm smoking the tires pretty good haha). Saw around 5 of knock right before the end and let off. With volts at around 830 - 840 and I was on 16 psi. With a 2.6 60 foot I ended up 15.0 @ 101.

I just have to keep screwing around and tuning it till I get it dialed in right. Hopefully 12's or close to it next time out. I knew it wasn't going to happen this time but it was fun!

Sounds like you had fun, thats all that counts. I'm sure that car has a 12 in it just keep tuning.
