Hi all,

I changed my transmission fluid in my 87 Turbo Buick as part of my spring cleaning and upon taking her out on a test drive afterwards the firm shift that I once had has noticibly gone away? The fluid I used was GM's latest Dexron fluid as I understand that it's backwards compatible, when I changed the transmission filter I elected to re-use the 2 o-rings from the old filter vs. the lip seal that came with the new filter.

Any thoughts of what might be the issue?

Use either 2 orings OR the orange seal that comes with new filters. Not both. Pushes to far down to the pan. Could be pushing the pickup opening to press against the pan and "starve" the trans for fluid. Also make sure that the metal is crimped around the outer edge of the filter where it is attached to the plastic so that it doesn't suck from around the edge and possibly cavitate.
