Hey guys, ive been lurking on here for about 8 yrs now but forgot my old login/password. Well after wanting a GN for the past 12 yrs, i finally have found one that is attainable. It is an 87 astro-roof digital dash GN. has around 120k orig miles and is all stock. supposedly runs and drives fine. It does have some rust on the doors, and on the rear quarters behind the tires. The floors, trunk, and frame are clean. I feel I am getting a decent deal on it, and i am by no means looking for a perfect car - this will be a winter project.

Ive been into the LS1 side of things for the past several years, so please excuse my ignorance :o

I was just wondering what a car in the condition described would normally sell for this time of year?(keeping in mind the astro-roof, and digital dash as well). Thanks guys
James

Depending on condition it should pull $6-7k with that mileage unless it was stored inside its whole life. If it needs paint then even less considering an average (not great, but average) paint job will cost $6k.

If it needs paint I would just look for one with good paint and save urself the BS! Even if u stole it for $4k you will be into it for $10k. You can buy a turn-key low 11 or maybe even high 10 second car for $10-13k.

thanks for the quick reply! the paint on it isnt too bad but i am going to repaint it. I have a good hookup with a bodyshop. I cant justify spending 13k all at once, but i dont ever plan on selling this car so i dont mind putting money into it over time.(childhood dream...GN was the first fast car i ever rode in when i was 9yrs old and got me addicted to horsepower!). I assume from my buddy's bodyshop i will probably have $3k into a great paintjob. i can do most of the prep-work myself, and i don't want a show quality job...just something nice but not nice to the point where i'll be afraid to drive it :)

Well, if u can get it painted good for cheap then it might be a good deal. Make sure the Astroroof works properly. I too have an astro roof and swear by them. Good luck and post some pics when its finished.

i swear by not having a t-top car:biggrin:and yes i have t-tops:mad:
I have to agree with GNBRETT,try and find one with minor to no body work needed to save your self from a big can of worns! Also your best bet would be looking at gn's in the price rang of 10k or so,more than likely going to find one in good to great condition

Get on here and find out who on this board lives near you that is willing to go out with you and have a look see under the hood.

1.Bring compression tester, best a leak detector but that takes a little more time.

2. Try and read into as best as you can, who was driving it...old guy vs 16 yr old who lost his driving privledges;)

Good luck and remember,... Parts can be had but at a price and a hair transplant costs about 11K depending how much you pull out while fixing it
