I was there yesterday for the qualifying/prelims at pomona

Nothing short of amazing.

Saw a 334.xx mph pass

I got access to the MAC tools top fuel pit area (a buddy hooked it up)

Talked to Doug Kalitta (mac tools driver) and some of his crew. Learned some interesting things as I watched him disassemble a cylinder head that had a partially melted chamber. One of the spark plugs was just blown away.

one of the MAC cylinder heads... this had a cyl that ran a little hot and proceeded to snack on a spark plug and some of the aluminum. Didn't get a pic of that.

The ports are huge. Those two tubes per port are fuel nozzles. There is a third one not installed for idle. All together at WOT its pushing 65 GPM of nitromethane through that engine. The guy told me they run about a 1400-1500 egt and iirc 7:1 compression, 60 lbs of boost crossing the line. With that much uncompressable liquid in the chamber the cyl pressures must be astronomical.

heres a flopper thrown in for good measure

going to pro drags is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. The amount of noise, vibration, and just shock is indescribable

Geeez, Tony Pedregon's fireball against John Force, some scarry stuff!!! Man, Tony's firesuit all burned up, miracle he walked away with just hand burns!!

Looks like WJ and Kurt really picked up in the HP Dept.

Unfortunately Warren is still lacking in the drivers department. He needs to just hang it up. he should have retired when he had originally told every one, then just built motors for KJ and lease customers.

I like KJ but he also falls apart under pressure. He could have taken Anderson out with a low .010 light , but fell asleep and comes up with a .050:frown:

It was also nice to see Billy Glidden make the field.

I have been counting down the days.It was a good race! Those new pontiacs are kind of wierd looking, the GTO's looked better IMO.I still cant believe Dave Connoly(sp?)wasn't there(no sponsor):frown:

I watched it both Saturday and last night.

Lets just say I can't wait for the innagural event this Sept. here in Charlotte. I work for a company owned by Bruton, and we usually get tickets for the Nascar events, but I'm trying to see if they'll comp. me any for the NHRA event.

I was there, working with Bob Bodes crew.
We lost to Ashley Force in the first round.

Tony's boomer was very nasty, I saw it from the starting line as we were
the next pair up. Great job of getting the car stopped safely.

I went on Fri.

Yep, the Professor and his kid seamed to find some HP in the off season. It was nice to see J. force back in the saddle. A fellow comp car buddy of mine (Vinnie Deceglie) had his first try in Pro Stock. Antron Brown kicked @$$ in his first start in Top Fuel. It was a great start to the NHRA season:cool: .

Happy spoolin

I'd love to tag along with you for a weekend. That has to be an experience.

Yeah it's quite an experience, I'm thrilled I'm able to do it.
It's hard work, long hours and a lot of traveling, but it's all worth it
when I watch the car we just prepared rip off a clean pass.

If you ever make it out to an event we're at, stop by and I'll show you around the pit area. You can even hang out for a warm up if you want.
