SignUp Now!I think that maybe I should have elaborated more in my previous post about what made my car TSO outlawed. Since my wife and I had our baby early I wasn't able to go to Cecil for the final TSO race. I really missed being there with freinds and having a chance at getting the points lead. Anyway next year I plan on running the TSO series as well as some local heads up classes. I borrowed a GT55-91 and went to the track on saturday to see how it worked, I also took my ballast out of the car but I don't know what it weighed. The boost was turned WAY up ( 41 #s ) as I thought I might have a shot at a 7 second pass if everything was perfect. Needless to say I didn't get the 7 but it did run decent.
Anyway I don't see how this affects TSO because it deffintely wasn't in legal trim. I just wanted to see if the engine could handle it and passed the test. Sorry again for the controversey.

I think it was a GT-55/91 and he was taking a shot at 7.90's in the cool air. Boost was well north of 40 psiHe was testing the limits of a converter as well and he still can't blow through it

Changing this class to index is the worst idea I've ever heard. That would eliminate any need for vendors to develop new parts, sponsorship $$$ will fall like a rock. It just slaps the guys in the face who worked their butts off to be faster.
OR if people want index I'd vote for 8.0 so everybody can step up![]()
Looking back at some of the other comments while I was typing the last reply....TSO has never had a 16 car field. I'm trying to remember if it ever had an 8 car field. Fact is, guys aren't building TSO cars to compete in TSO. Most of them are building cars for themselves that just happen to fit TSO. Some of them race, some don't. You have to have a real desire to stick with the V6's with the kind of money you have to invest in them. When I looked into it I did not want to invest that kind of $$$ to run a couple races a year and run 8.50's. Most racers feel this way so your not going to see a lot of new 8 second TSO style cars popping up no matter what the rules are. Majority of the TSO racers are guys who've been in the class for years.
Dave, a guy from a local board was taking photos there. See page 9, there is a nice burnout pic.

The V8 guys probably tried to pull a couple plug wires and see if they went faster after watching Dave's run.
Dave,
It is an amazing MPH and 41psi........god bless ya brother, I don't have the guts to do that as my boost gauge when it worked only went to 30:biggrin:
Regardless of who ya did it I bet it was quite a ride, was it on slicks or drag radials?
It was UMTR (UMTR Intro) night there. Usually filled with stick shift Mustangs everywhere![]()
Insane!172 in the 1/4 is pretty damn fast...I did 170 in a Cup car but that was doing 100 out of turn 3 at pocono and flooring it..... what does it feel like accelerating that fast....
Not trying to slap anyone in the face. Believe me, I'd rather race heads up but very few can compete. I think something needs to be done. The fastest in the class are already well beyond the certifications of their cars. I don't know anyone in competition that has a 25.x cert on their chassis. I just drive so it really doesn't matter to me either way. If I had to pay to build/maintain a car to be competitive I'd find another class. I just don't have the funds to race at that level.

from an "outsider" knowing Rich, Ted, Avon, Artie , Chris the bar keeps getting pushed higher...which is great for promoting V6 power...but breakage this year has been more of an issue in years past....heck before the 2008 season started I for one was hoping for a great year....to see Ted Avon and Ficus and Chris and Rich to go at it....but that is all you really have....6 guys to compete in a Race series...the way I see it is without a limit..sky is the limit...and you will keep the used to be guys out of the running....nothing against Dave or Ted for pushing the envelope...but if TSO is to continue and draw other than the 8 guys that have been in it for the last 4 years...something needs to change...just my opinion...for what it is worth
This is why, we need to not limit Turbo size to just the 88. There should be a class for stock suspension GN's that want something differnt. Put limits to 94mm, not that any of us would go that high and run very effeciently  We do this and I know I am in for TSO any where, any place most of the year. To say you in Outlaw, but with limits, doesnt make sence since all cars are already stock suspension, 10.5 cars? We either want more cars or we dont.
