I bought a used Art Carr 9" non-lockup torque convertor.
The stock bolts to go from flexplate to torque convertor don't fit.
There aren't even any threads in the torque convertor.
Are bolts and nuts supposed to be used for aftermarket convertors?
Does anyone know what size bolts?
Thanks.

I would suggest calling Art Carr and talk with them. Sounds like they have had some mount bosses get thru without threading them. Good luck.

both ways

I have seen convertors both ways, with welded on threaded bosses or a bracket that requires both bolts and lock nuts, I believe they were 3/8" but a special length, I am also sure they were a grade 8 bolt, just make sure you use metal lock nuts and not the nylon ones.

Thanks for the help.
I called Art Carr and he said this is normal for the 16930 part number where as they went to built in threads on the 19930 part number.
He said to use 3/8-24 bolts 2" long.
I found some Grade 8 bolts today along with Grade 8 lock nuts.
I think 2" is specified because the unthreaded portion of the bolt will go through the flex plate and most of the thickness of the boss on the torque converter.
