The NHRA record holder was another white T that was campaigned by Fred Vetter & driven by Jim D'allesandro. It was white with a Gray interior & the car had the base chrome mirrors. A very cool car. Full "stocker" engine & prepped chassis. Shane's car was considered the street car with a basic combo that was earned 1/10th at a time.

I owe Fred Vetter a big Thank You as he took me under the wing & showed me the way when i was young a dumb. He was big on keeping things Simple, tuning, testing & only making 1 change at a time.

Thanks for the info..

Shane, Congrats on the car and good luck. That interior is gorgeous and extremely clean. I really like the color of the cage.

Here are a few pics!

Ahh man !! no wonder eveyone was talking about the roll bar it's beautiful ! The car looks so clean and the paint looks pretty good also (judging x the pics). I really like it !!  Enjoy it Shane !!

Thanks guys!

Ted, I dunno yet. I really want to bring 3 cars, getting all 3 there will be the problem. Unless something goes wrong we will at least be there with the TFS car!

WOW this brings me back to the late 80s. I might still have all the articles on that car. I will look this weekend. Last time I saw that car it was back in FLA.
Nice score and if the paint is still original I wouldnt touch it.

Well i haven't had much time to dig through my stuff but i did find the October 1988 issue of Street & Strip Supercar magazine & your car is featured in both an article on Fred Vetter & Dynotech & at the first Gran National showdown at Englishtown NJ. There is a nice picture of the car launching in the final round against Jim D'Allessandro. More stuff to come.....

PM sent Shane.

Nice score

Very nice car congrats. Man those rims ain't that ugly. Have always liked the Flying Maytag look, white with black trim is sweet.

Not those rims, the ones that were on it when I bought it. They had to go:p

Very nice ride Shane! I remember seeing it in the old ads for Dynotech in the older issues of GMHTP mag that I have. Can't remember exactly, but I think Fred held some NHRA index records with this car at one time as well??

My dad's silver '86 T-type also has some history with Fred as he built the shortblock for the car and the previous owner Marc Karp won TFS in Bristol back in '99 with it.. Also, I believe Marc purchased the car from Fred when he lived up in NJ..

Yes, I purchased the silver "T" from Fred in 97 when I was moving down to Florida. And yes, he build the short block later on. And yes, I won TFS at Bristol in 99. The best part of that story is I beat Fred (in the white car) with a hole shot in the semi final round and went on to win the class. I think he is still pissed since he taught me how to drive back in 87 when I got my GN.
By the way, Fred held quite a few NHRA records, but none with that car.
Marc Karp
