Howdy,

How do you hotwire your fuel pump with the battery in the trunk? For that matter how do you wire the charging wire from the alternator to the battery with it back in the trunk?

Thanks,

You should run an 8 or 10 ga wire to the battery from the charging post on the alternator. Most hot wire kits hook directly to the alternator that should be fine

Could you run it right off of a junction block in the trunk, ie run the alternator charging wire back to a MAD terminal block then have a wire to the battery and the fuel pump off of that? I'm partially asking because this is for a hybrid so I doubt an off the shelf hotwire kit is going to work. Being that this is a 65 Riviera and 40+ years old by the time I get the wiring in I'll be replacing the master harness with a painless universal for what I can and upgrading relays with halogens for the lights aswell. Where is the fuel pump relay even located on a Turbo Regal?

Thanks,

You could do that but I would like to see the charging lead connected right to the battery.

Using the racetronics harness with a walbro 340 I shortened the power lead. I think this normally would go to the alternator but with the battery in the trunk just wire to positive (hot side) of a f**d starter solenoid. Oh yeah dont forget the inline fuse.

For your hybrid I would go with 4-6 gauge alternator wiring to the trunk battery.

Especially if using any isolation solenoids/relays in line as may be mandated by NHRA.

TR f.p. relays are on the passenger side fenderwell area.

If I had a good alternator setup and good wire to the battery I wouldn't mind hot wiring from the battery or alternator to battery solenoid or junction point.

Assuming of course a good fuel delivery system not something marginal.
