Fuel pump

Can someone please explain why my fuel pump won't prime up when the key is on? The first relay, the orginal I'm guessing worked fine till a couple of days ago it started running Continuously when the key was on. So I went to auto zone and got a new relay and now it won prime at all and only comes on when the engine is running but now it won't start at all. Am I missing something?

It's for an '87 car but the trouble-shooting tips should give you clues where to check for problems. Good luck.

Bypass and Hotwire it...less headache more reliable and more juice.
