Some of you may have read my other thread about my Paxton A1000 style fuel pump basically destroying itself. Upon further inspection of the pump it is not worth having rebuilt. It is trash.
Now here is my problem.... I dont want to buy another A1000 pump. I have read about more problems and how unreliable they are. I dont need that headache! This car had started off trying to be a TSM car BUT, there isnt any point in trying to keep going that direction. It is now mainly a street driver with very limited WOT time.
I have the stock tank sumped and -10 line all the way to the fuel rail. I hate to go back to the stock lines BUT on the other hand I am not sure if I really need the -10 stuff either. Budget is a BIG concern. I thought about going to a DeatschWerks pump on the stock lines BUT I read that they are limited to a certain point. If I go to an intank pump then I need a new tank. No baffling in the current one I have. I still have to have enough fuel to support a 231 with ported GN1s and a pt70 turbo. I am probably going to downsize to a 6265 turbo though. I just cant seem to make up my mind on this. HELP!

A1000 ----expensive and unreliable and need to buy prefilter and checkvalve

Weldon ----Expensive and Overkill and need to buy prefilter and checkvalve

Double Pumper-----Expensive and complicated + buy new tank

DeatschWerks------Good Price but will it flow enough fuel?

I feel that the A1000 is unreliable after all the problems I have read that people have with them. The one I had only had about 3000-4000 miles on it. I also question whether or not the Weldon and A1000 circulate too much fuel when cruising and at idle therefore heating up the fuel. IDK.. I have also thought about setting up a double pumper into the -10 line. Not sure how the best way to hook that up is though.
How fast will a single DeatschWerks pump go with 72s on gasoline only through the stock lines? Anyone? I am typing this from my pos phone so forgive me if it screws up. ;~)

I have the Weldon 1100, I don't think heating the fuel while cruising is a problem. The 1100 isn't that expensive ~$350 I think and you can get it with the AN line size you have now for the A1000 and bolt it right up. I don't run a check valve and I even use a unmolested factory tank and it "sucks" it up a tube out the tank down to a filter and up to the pump mounted higher than the tank where the original muffler was behind the rearend, no problems starting the car. I turn the key, it runs for a second, it automatically stops then I turn the key to start and she fires right up. I got my Weldon from Hartline Performance.

I agree. Keep it simple, just buy a better pump. Weldon pumps have a good reputation. To put things in perspective we just ran a 10.03@133.21 on pump gas and alcohol with a single D.W. in tank pump. But the same car has run a best MPH of 136+ with a single Walbro 340 in tank. Stepped up to the D.W. pump 'cause it was making me nervous.

Hey Jer,

Sounds like you're all setup for an external so do what Ken suggests. Buy a quality pump and use the parts you already have... :)
I'm not gonna tell my son about your A-1000 burning up since he already bought it.
