Seen many talk about fire as a result of removing canister and many say no problem at all.

Has anyone done it this way and is this good enough for filtering out the fuel vapors? I smell nothing at all and expect it is different for everyone, just wondering others opinions.

I think the biggest concern with that is if you have it out in a hot day and it purged the vapor into the engine compartment. I disconnected the hose from the vent hard line back at the gas tank and put a plastic bowl style fuel filter and tucked it under the heat shield
