Funny....Since the start of the game,No more boasting by the Philthy fans....:D

Lee Pitched an awesome game,But no need to think off that one performance that the Repeat is Guaranteed.

Lets see If Hamel pitches a good of a game as Lee did,I going to go out on a limb,And say I doubt it.

Lucky to only be down 3-1 right now,After getting robbed on that short hop just a sec ago.

The Phillies dominated!!! Half the fans were gone in the 7th-8th inning??? Its not over yet but it doesnt look good for the Yankees. They looked over matched.

Pete

Kinda like the Phillies tonight:eek: Go Royals LOL

i have a tissue box for any Philly fan that might need it now.:D
Poor bitter Philly fans.
Lets go Yanks.
its going to be fun to celebrate in PA.

What happened to the New York Fans? Empty seats in almost every camera shot and they were very quiet all night even when the Yanks were winning? Its going to be a little louder in Philly tomorrow night.

Pete

Lee is unhittable right now. Regardless of the final score, Utley, yada, yada, yada, everything else was a sidebar.

BUT...

Lee (12 starts, 79.2 innings) is a rental, a free agent at the end of the year, in his prime, and auditioning for the richest/lengthiest contract he's ever likely to get. You'd have to be an idiot not to appreciate he was auditioning in part for the very team he beat.

Lee will declare free agency within 24 hours of eligibility, unless he and Braunecker (his agent) are indisposed at lunch.

Getting Lee was a coup, no doubt, but IMO he's unlikely to be a Phil next year.

Ummm.... Would you like to place a wager on if Lee will be pitching for Philly next year? You name the amount, I'm in!!!

Philly has an option on Lee for 2010 for 9 mil. So it's pretty safe to say he will be playing in Philly next year. Now 2011, that's up for debate.

I really don't care what team wins. The hater in me wants to see the Yanks fail. I'm really just rooting for some major umpire screw ups so that Selig has to impliment instant replay.

Uh, oh; what happened to the Philly's last night?

Great pitchers duel my favorite kind of games. Martinez threw 8 stike outs and Burnet threw 9. One of his best games ever. Neither pitcher deserved to loose.

We had to use Martinez last night... I mean come on guys we didn't want to spank down the Yankee's that bad and put them in a 2 game hole coming back to Philly! :D

I must admit those home base umpires need instant replay! Even for both sides there were MANY balls that were called strikes. When we had 2 on and Ryan Howard was up and got called on that ball as a strike that could have been a game changer alone. I'm sure everyone heard him yelling fu*k and throwing his helmet in the dug out. I felt bad there. That was a major pitch called a strike that was way outside the plate on the pitch box. But that's the way the game goes I guess. A few bloopers on the field as well that could have used instant replay. I don't ever think instant replay will ever come into play in the MLB because then the games would take 6 hours to complete. Then again it's fun to see a coach from time to time go out there and kick dirt all over the umps.

Looks like sh!tty weather for the game on Saturday but you'll see what a crowd does when their team is in the world series! :D

I wonder if Martinez still thinks all the NY fans worship him? Did you here him in the pre game interview about how great he is and how 60k fans were calling out his name.... He sounded like such a jackass. And then got spanked all night.

You have it all mixed up and half the story. The story is Martinez in general is a cocky player. More so in his old days and not so now. In one press conference he stated that NY was his daddy. Just because it's NY and that's when NY was hot for a few years there. So because he's cocky kinda guy he was saying that who do you know in baseball that can walking into a stadium and have 60,000 fans yelling "who's your daddy". Keep in mind. There is no such thing as bad press! There isn't a player out there that can have 60,000 fans yelling something like that! Now if they were chanting "a$$hole" or something well then yea. But people had banners last night and even the organist started playing "who's your daddy" on the organ! Martinez also said “I know they really want to root for me,” “It’s just that I don’t play for the Yankees, that’s all. :D I like a player with balls like that!

Just watch this presser and you'll hate him more!

MLB playoffs: Philadelphia Phillies' Pedro Martinez returns to New York the enemy once again - ESPN

Keep in mind Martinez HATES the press and does the things he does just to piss them off and make them write crap on him! Anytime he can fire the press up and get into their heads he will. And that just passed along to the fans and people that hate him.

All in all for his age he did a really really good job last night. He can't throw the ball fast anymore so he uses his massive collection of pitches. He didn't get us a win but in the regular season he did an amazing job for us and shut many teams down.

You must not be much of a baseball fan. Like philly explained, the whole "who's your daddy" thing started along time ago when he played for Boston. He knows Yankee fans hate him, and he's just having a little fun with it. But as far as being spanked all night? Not true at all. Although he was the losing pitcher, it was a great performance, he just didn't have the run support.

Put the pipe down and it will all be clear to you who is going to win this series! :D Oh and I was wrong on my stats. The last 11 teams to win game 1 won them all!

On a serious note.. NY fans are the worst I've seen ever after what they showed tonight. As soon as they were down and things were looking grim (8th inning ish) the people all started to leave!!!! I've never seen anything like that. Your friggin team is in the WORLD SERIES!! hello!? You show respect for your team making it all the way no matter what the score and keep your a$$ in the seat till the END and cheer on YOUR team for making it that far show the respect people! That's what we do here. No matter what the outcome we stay to the end when your in a game as big as the World Series! That was a sorry display of a Yankee's fan tonight. Sad. I guess that's why just about every ball player we get say they have never seen fans like the fans here in Philly!

Did you ever think that the Philthy fans are so into the series,Because these World series appearances are few and far between...Thats a nice little picture you posted up there,Why not go to the last Philly win and Post up the one from 1980...WOW...2 whole wins...No wonder you guys are so ecstatic over it.

On the other hand,Most Yankee fans have seen quite a few of these world series games...If I were to post a Yankee Picture for a world series win for every year they won,The thread would probably get closed for excessive bandwidth use...:p I believe that would be 26-2

I am not a huge baseball fan,But can tell just from your reaction...That you have obviously been waiting for this moment for a long time....Yankee fans have not.

Havent heard much from you Jim since Burnett Took you guys down a peg...And he only needed 7 innings to strikeout 9... I believe lee needed a full game to get to 10.:p

And..Does anyone else notice how Horrible the officiating is in these games,Some big missed calls on each side that could really change the outcome of the game...Terrible.

For the Yankees,That fly ball was no doubt a short hop...saved you guys from going down a few more runs,The score could of really been worse...And I dont remember the Runner for the Phils...But that throw to 1st,He was clearly safe,And the Umpire was right on top of that...Much easier call to make than the short hop ball. You never know how that 1 extra base runner will affect a game.

They should consider the possibility of instant replay for Baseball...maybe only 1 challenge per team...And maybe only in the Playoffs/World Series. They should consider something...Its out of hand...Wont even get into the strike zone...Or lack thereof.

Yankees suck, Yankees suck, Yankees suck, Yankees suck, Yeahh thats showing some real class.
Put your heads down Philly fans it was ugly
BTW 2>1 Yankees
Go Yankees
