How do you think these turbos would compare against each other on a GN with a stock converter? Which would give the most performance and best overall power?

The newer 5857 billet is rated for 605 hp where the old 49 was rated for 545 hp....... both work well for a stock converter.

IMHO..... step up to the 6057billet. It only needs 2800 RPM stall...... which should still spool OK even with the stock converter IMHO..... and it is good for 630 hp.... good time for a RJC boost controller here to aid in quick spoolup.

6057 dbb billet and a 2800 stall? I talked to Dusty about my 6262 dbb billet and he said a 2800 stall was pleanty loose to spool very quickly and give an easy launch off foot break. I'd call Dusty to see what you could go with as far as stall. You could probably get away with much more turbo out of a stock converter than you think. The new technology is making the days of huge converter stalls a thing of yesterday.

I'll have to get back on my converter and turbo combo once I get the converter in and do some testing.

I was thinking he was talking journal bearing...... and 2800 stall is on the PTE chart for stall recommendation.....

Recently I was told from Patrick (PTE sales) that the spool characteristics would be similar and the extra power output of the billet turbo may not be felt until the boost goes above 25psi. This would be for a journal bearing billet 5857 turbo with an E cover (3 in 2 out) and .63 housing.

For a true stock converter, BB would probably be the way to go if possible. You might be able to sneak in a 6057 with a .63 housing or a 5857 with a .85 housing, but I'd guess that with a true stock converter you might lose some fun factor on the street for a small gain. With something like a restalled stock converter or a tight 10.5" coverter, you might be able to go up to something like a journal bearing 6262 E cover with a .63 housing which would be a more significant power increase over a TA49 even at 25psi boost.

the 49 has been in the 10's,the billet 58 is new and i haven't heard of any real world results just paper speculation.

I stepped up from a TA49 to a 6057bb billet E cover and went 124.87mph in the 1/4 through a stock intercooler with a Dutt neck. This was with an Edge 2600-2800 stall converter. This turbo hits hard above 15psi boost :D

Please tell us more about your combo. helpful as

Champion iron heads with matching intake, custom 206/206 roller, T&D 1.55 RR, .020 hyper pistons, 60# injectors, 3" THDP, Dutt neck stock intercooler, 6057bb turbo, 22-23# boost, Edge 2600-2800 converter, Razor's Alky, TT chip, 3.42's

billet 58/57 and the 6057 are two different wheels,i.ve been 125mph on the 49 when it was on the car;)what was your et with that trap.

What was the mph difference from swapping the TA-49 for the 6057?
(assuming nothing else was changed)

Just for the record, the Billet 6057 has been discontinued and is no longer available.

The 5857 would be a nice turbo to upgrade from a TA-49 or TE-44 if you did not want to change anything on the combo.

Wow really? Was it not very popular or just not worth going with compared to the 62 wheel?

If the 49 or 44 is replaced/ upgraded to the 5857. Then what is the 6057 compared to?
