These profits for the most part are going back into the companies that made them, bigger buildings, better delivery systems. They definitely are not going into exploration, extraction or refinment. If they could place those profits accordingly they would. It's crazy to think that companies are taking these profits everyone is talking about and going down to buy mansions and a fleet of SUVs. They are placing them back into the companies the built those huge profits. I wouldn't want to foot the tax bill for 17 billion in profits. As mentioned before if they were allowed to place those profits in exploration, extraction and refinment, we would all be better off. But until Environmentalists loosen their grip oil companies will place their profits elsewhere.
I have always been skeptical on the 60mpg carbs and such. Remember you can only get so much energy out of a gallon of gas. Engines can become more efficent, but to stick a modified carb on a 76' Eldorado and get great gas mileage is not going to happen...Well unless you drive 10 mph.
