I was on the phone with Jason of RJC today and causally mentioned my smoke at idle after a drive. Car runs great, but at idle smokes like I'm trying to start the field on fire.... It's a rebuilt old school TE-62 lasted about 1yr in the fresh motor. Wondering if I should put new seals in myself, I've done a few turbo rebuilds on my workbench and they held up....but a pro re-built it and it lasted a yr.
Or just put my tried and true TE-44 on it and see if I can reach my 11.50 1/4 mile goal that I went under with the 62 @ 22 psi (ran a 11.21 @ 122.7)
I went right to the 62 on the fresh motor leaving the perfectly good TE-44 on the bench.... I know it's on the small side for my motor but with no roll cage and 98% street use, I think this will do. I have a few months to decide the car is at the body shop for a badly needed paint job.
On the other hand I've noticed some really good deals by the members here stepping up to the next level .......not exactly sure what I should be looking for. Also noticed some great deals by the vendors from time to time....
Car has a PTC 3200 lock-up stall, I don't lock the converter when I race, save it for the highway mpg, I burnt the last converter lock-up clutch out which was a vigilante single disc.
