109 .030 shortblock for sale. Will need freshening. Here is a list of whats in it

.030 JE pistons
JE rings std tension
Cat 4340 steel crank
K1 steel rods
RJC girdle with crank scraper
BHJ balancer
JW Wheel flexplate
Progear timing chain
HV front cover
Flow cooler water pump
Comp 218/212 Hydraulic roller with 853 lifters and button
FM main bearings and Clevite race rod bearings
rotating assembly fully balanced

The block has been line honed, line bored, decked(squared), new cam bearings, etc..

The bad, there was at one time a piston to valve contact leaving a small surface scar on the #2 piston top. Its about 1/4 wide, maybe 0.20 deep can be smoothed out. No integrity damage to piston. The crank was cut .010 when the engine was built to make it round. The rods were clearanced on sides(common) and pin area's. There is over 1600 in machine work alone. Plus parts. I dont have the time to tear it apart, clean it, and rebearing it. Also there is staining from water that got into the #2 cylinder.

Rings, pistons, crank, block, etc.. are in great shape. Will idle at 80 PSI on 10w40 cold. Will run 70 PSI hot at wot. Motor has approx 500 miles before getting pulled. Car went back to stock.. now its on an engine stand. Everything is brand new, except for the block which was from an NA application. 109 stamped, and yes the oil drain hole was drilled in the correct location. I dont like building blocks subject to boost/abuse. No knocking, no weirdness, nada.. I wouldnt have known about the piston to valve until it was disassembled. Will run as is, you couldnt even tell an issue.. doesnt even leak oil... but being a vendor on the board.. and long time trader here.. I call it as it is.

I'll post pixs next few days.. can bring to Reynolds for the next Buick event.

$3,000

Cannot be replicated for this. Some bearings.. some labor.. ready to rock and roll :D

Gotta say thats a good deal.

Big money in parts alone. Where was this deal when i built my motor?

Julio, I am interested. I would like to see pics of the damage & can you clarify on the bearings? Did it blow a head gasket or are you just saying new bearings to cover your butt? How many of these 500 miles were 1/4 mile at a time? And who assembled the motor? And do you have any idea of greight charges to the omaha, ne area?

Thanks

John Plog

Motor has less than 20 passes. What happened is it tweaked the cometic on the #2.. motor would driving for an hour start to over heat.. I look water was missing.. great compression.... idle fine.. when I pulled the plug the #2 was wet.. I let the car sit for a week before tearing into it.. well water was in the chamber.. new HG went on it.. motor ran 2 11.0@124 passes at 21 PSI boost without a hint or problem.. That is the staining from plain water. I never ran anti-freeze through it. No water or antifreeze ever went into the oil.

I even have XFI datalogs from it being raced showing oil pressure at WOT :)

I'll post pixs tommorrow.. As to the bearings.. Yup.. covering my butt.. I dont want any mixed feeling about buying a used racing engine. I'll take pixs of the #2 bearing as well and crank..

The motor was built by James at Nelson Brothers here in St. Petersburg. Clearances were set to .002 on rods and mains. And the crank was cut after setting up the rods and mains. Chain is a Pro Gear .005 less.

Thanks guys.

Julio

As to freight charges.. dont know. I shipped a long block to Ca and it was 300 bucks dock to dock. I can take it to Reynolds this weekend if you have someone driving down.. Its just a shortblock :)

Here are pixs..

There is the upper half of the bearing with the slight tracing of copper. The cylinder probably if driven may clean it self up over time.. maybe i'm just being picky.

The starter is not included, but will be available separately.

Anything else.. let me know and i'll post.

You can see the nick on the piston, the pickup screen has not been touched. The slight debris is gasket material. Here is the upper bearing half.
