GM Magnavox DIS super coil

I'm using the MSD ignition in my GN and wanted to add this coil pack from Accell thet Racetronix sells, it says maxium voltage is 42,000 volts. Anyone know what the stock coil pack voltage maxes out?

Voltage numbers are a poor single indicator of what an ignition system can do.


You want to know the voltage, amperage and coil rise time. Getting all three optimized is the important part, and it varies by engine.

I took some notes from an excellent , highly technical, discussion on our ignition system from a few years ago. And from those notes, the maximum voltage from the stock coil is.....drum roll please....... 32,000 volts. Although, I would be a little leery buying something that has some things wrong in the specs. HTH

Before you spend the money, try to find someone that is actually using it and can actually supply evidence that it helped.

Why i'm asking about this coil is that my MSD ignition helped me get into the 11's a past weekend so i'm confident will a higher voltage output from the coil help to aid the MSD. From 32,000 volts to 42,000 is a big jump will I be changing spark plugs more often?
