Thinking about buying the one for 550 on full throttle, are these good the price is one of the best ive seen. Any of you running this have overheating issues anything else im new to GN scene so im just researching thanks in advance for you info.

  1. Before the Gents on this forum can answer any of your questions, you need to fill out your signature in detail... That GN1 FMIC will be entirely too big on a stock motor and too small on a 8 second race car.....

I have one and with dual electric fans and running distilled water in the summer time around 80 and 90s i've seen temps as high as 210 which ive been told is ok for this cars..if i could do it over again i would go the stretched stock location intercooler or maybe pay a little more for one thats not as thick and just as equally, if not more efficient.

The RJC Racing IC 315 XTF fmic is supposed to be street friendly with a different core design than the other two they sell. It's a little more $$$$ but sometimes you get what you pay for. Give Jason a call and see if it will work with your combo, then you can make the decision which intercooler is best for your needs.

210??? Thats pushing it imo

Ran one for about two years, stock radiator, then the Camaro one with the plastic tanks both times with a stock fan. Hottest temps I EVER saw was 200, that was at the track running back to back passes. Literally went from the trap right back to the burn out box, two runs within 3 minutes. It's a nice piece, however, much lighter material then the RJC inter coolers though which I run currently.

yea thats what i thought but when i bought this up the majority seemed to say it was ok and that unless it was upwards of 220 or above there really wasnt a need to worry.

I just got the 315 XTF. Its really nice. The core is different then most other front mounts. It should support a car running 9.8's or better. Perfect for my build.

If you're not in a huge hurry, we've got a SLIC and few things in the works. :)

200+ in 90* heat with the air cond on is pretty normal as far as I'm concerned if running a front mount. I just cant imagine 170* in the heat with the a/c on going down the freeway with a front mount.

I have a front mount and dual Spal fans. I never see 200 on the hwy as long as everything is working as it should. That is with a/c on and 90 degrees in the summer.

Same here, just have to make sure everything is boxed in so all air goes thru the radiator.

Do you have the single factory fan?

I have the single mark 8 fan that flows more than the dual fans. The fan doesn't do much at hwy speeds.
