Out of the 547 GNX's produced and sold, how many do you guys know of that have been destroyed due to accident or stolen and chopped etc...?

The prototype was crushed.

Buddy Cox turned his into a full on race car.

Thats all I got.

There were pics of one that got ripped up by a telephone pole on here not too long ago. Someone took the GNX parts and is trying to sell it as the real deal. Don't know if you count that as being on the road or not.

Greetings,

Excellent question! I will caveat this by saying this data is not all-inclusive (yet), but we're working on it each and every day. As the Registry continues to track cars and owners contact us, the sample size and following numbers will most certainly increase (perhaps significantly). But this is the latest:

Number completely destroyed or rebodied: 4
Number with confirmed accident history: 6
Number with "other issues" related primarily to condition, mileage discrepancies, or prior theft history (including intact recovery): 23

That being said, if you have any data related to a particular car (last 4 digits of VIN required for verification) please PM or email your contributions and many thanks in advance!

Hope this helps,
Doug

I dont know if this is the same car or not but I talked to a guy that bought one that was wrecked in I believe Arizona and he is in the process of swapping the parts. He said the car was never reported as wrecked so he is going to sell it as the real deal as well. He was trying to sell another GN last fall for $10.5 I believe.

I also heard of one that had frame damage (from the midwest) resulting from a race and they drove to NC to pick up a mint frame from someone with the intention of putting everything back together. Car never left their ownership and had no plans to either... This is how it was relayed to me by the person that sold them the frame...no idea what # GNX it was.

GNX wreck ...

Here's a link 2 a wrecked GNX !!! Phillyturbo6 ??@#% should show some light on what # it was or run the vin # guys.

WRECKS!

I dont know if this qualifies as a wreck or what? Maybe just plain modified but back in 1999 GNX #59 was in the custody of the FBI or IRS as an impounded vehicle up for auction. I and a few other privlidged individuals had access to look at it before putting our bids in. This was in Omaha. I know it originally came from Ohio as it used to be the first GNX in the 11's. You can find some 1/4 mile footage of it on one of the GeeSCA videos. Anyway it was missing almost everything GNX related. No GNX turbo, THM400 and a 12-bolt rear. Hard to tell if it was the original motor.Interior was mint with the original gauges. I dont recall the miles. The guppy that won the auction paid $23K for it. The last time I saw it was a couple of years ago on eBay. Still missing the GNX parts. eBay yanked the auction because the seller didn't list the missing parts or misrepresented it in the description.

The GNX on that page is the one that was being sold as the real deal on ebay a while back. They took all the GNX parts off the car (that were salvageable) and put them on a donor GN. I believe they even put the VIN from the GNX into the donor but not 100% sure on that.

They got it done and put it on ebay. It took maybe a day before the Buick community found out the truth and exposed him. Not sure if he sold the car or how much he got if he did. The sad part is that there was dried blood all over that car and they still used it. :o

By the pictures I would assume the driver was killed as the car was basically bent in half. The steering wheel was pointed where the radio is and the floor below it was buckled all the way to the console. They had to cut the roof off to get the occupant(s) out. This was probably three years ago.

Look at the bottom of the steering wheel and the door, thats blood. :frown:

I believe the guy lived ... thats one bad thing about the net ... you don't know if its true or NOT

As i remember it, there was a member here back in the day who wrecked it and he did live. He linked those pictures here at least 6 years ago and the wreck was long time ago.

Those pictures have been here about 4 times now, i really would like to know who it was driving the car!

I remember seeing those pictures here the first time and everyone about pooped their pants when they found out it was a GNX.

That was in 99 or 2000 when the board crashed alot, who knows....
