HAS ANYONE PURCHASED GOODMARK REPLACEMENT SHEET METAL PARTS FOR ANY OF THEIR PROJECTS? IF SO WERE YOU SATISIFIED WITH THE FIT?

THE REASON I ASK IS BECAUSE I WENT TO A SWAP MEET RECENTLY AND A VENDOR HAD TONS OF GOODMARK PARTS FOR SALE. THE FINISH WAS EXCELLENT ON THE PARTS I LOOKED AT(HOODS, FENDERS, PATCH PANELS, ETC). I LOOKED AT A BOX A HOOD WAS SHIPPED IN AND LO AND BEHOLD, THE SHIPPING LABLE HAD THE GOODMARK LOGO BUT THE PARTS WERE MADE IN TAIWAN (SP)

I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT GM LICENSED PARTS WERE MADE HERE IN THE USA:confused:

I LOOKED AT ONE OF THEIR MAGAZINE ADDS AND THEY DON'T SAY WHERE THE PARTS ARE MANUFACTURED.....

ANYWAY, JUST THOUGHT I'D CHECK THE BOARD FOR ANYONE'S THOUGHTS.

I dont have any experience with Goodmark but the licensing is just to use the trademarks and names. They sell what ever they want. I have worked at the dealership level selling GM parts for 25 years and I know what you mean by the quality of import sheetmetal. If it makes you feel any better I replaced both front fenders and my hood about 10 years ago and I used good old OEM GM replacements and I was surprised that the fit and finished sucked as compared to the originals. Its been a fact that GM will let the tooling wear out to a certain standard before its replaced. The only real problems I had where the fender peaks are at the windshield there was a slightly different angle between the two sides. If you weren't looking you would never see it. And the hood was tweaked just slighty so you have to preload? it against the front hood bumper so it lays flat across the grille panel. Anyway ask Goodmark what type of guarantee they offer and if you can return the parts if you are not satisfied with the fit. I would think if there was anything bad with it you would have heard something about them as it seems Goodmark is a reputable company. Also GM may have sold them the original tooling and dies but it doesn't make sense that they would have shipped them overseas. Eric Fisher
