Greetings all,

Last Thursday, I was laid off from Moroso after 14 years with them. I understand times are real tuff, but it took me a week to post it.

Until people start working again, they do not buy race parts so… For the first time in my life I have to collect and I hate that.

Sorry to hear that.... my friend works for Mancini racing and they are barely holding on, PAW moved years ago from a huge building to a little dive of a store down the street, now they are strictly selling Mopar and selling off everything else on Ebay ! Sign of the times.... good luck to you.

Sorry to hear it Fred. I know that time are hard and the colapse of the stock market the other day will make it even harder. This will at least give you some time to do stuff around the house though.

I said it 3 years ago, the longer this goes on the worse it will get and it is. Recently 2000 applicants for ~100 jobs at a Sizzler in Lake Forest, ca.

And these bobble heads in DC and esp CA think taxing and adding regulations to business will improve things - WRONG. No one, individual or country, can survive buying more than it sells and the USA has been doing just that for 20+ years and now are paying the price. Time to tax the $hit out of imports, keep and use our own natural resources (read pump our oil and negate all foreign owned leases to our natural resources), and Charity begins at home, fk foreign aid and the starving in BFE africa.

Chill a little. We don't what this to get put in the political section. Not arguing but wrong forum for this type of response.

Sorry to hear that Fred, everyone in the aftermarket parts business is hurting. And if you are selling only Buick stuff........ Place I was working at is closing down and I was there for 21 years. I am one of the lucky ones out there that actually found a job that pays more and is closer to home to. I was feeling pretty desperate there for a while but everything worked out. Hopefully you can find something right away. Did they lay off a lot of people over there? What did you do at your position? Maybe you can get in over at Canton?

PAW shot themselves in the foot by not allowing people to order online.. they had a website for years and years, but they never put an interactive catalog up and you had to call them to order during their business hours.. this is why places like Summit and Jegs thrived while PAW wilted away. which is too bad- i used to love their phone book sized catalogs. but people don't care about cool catalogs full of cool stuff when they can't place an order with a few simple clicks in the middle of the night or on the weekends.

the internet is killing off a lot of business. phone books, newspapers, books. small, local stores, the postal service.. even how people meet other people. dating sites?? really? if you can't do business online, you are pretty much done for. sadly.. it only takes a handful of people to run a business from a website. so.. all the salesman and other, extra staff gets a lay off. technology seems to be killing us all off little by little. thank god my job can only be done by a person and our workforce is unaffected by technology. i've been laid off from a job before. the stress is horrible.

I was a Electronic engineering tech for them. Only 4 of us got the axe last week.

I have had two offers one in MA. and the other in Sunny CA. but I have a few leads here in the state.

I will say this When I started Moroso , Drag racing was a hobby , But after a while when you make your hobby your job well...............

I still love drag racing , But 2 months ago after blowing the head gasket and this that and other things I was spend more time wrenching then racing.

So I fell on my backup hobby I like since was a kid. RC airplane's The field is just down the road from you Mark .Behind Firelite.
I'm in the training program getting close to doing my solo. Taking this time I had "open up" to get as much stick time as I can, before the next job comes along and then depending on the hours who knows when I will be able to do it.

Firelite now, Use to be Picker international 25 years ago, Where I got my first electronic job after Connecticut school of electronics.

Small world

They still fly back there??? I remember seeing the planes but never figured out where the field was. Just drove by there about 5 minutes ago.

Yep, they do. They/we are up to ~ 160 members (not all flying at once of course) :D

and its not a bad deal. You have to join the AMA (basically for insurance and rules to abide by) and the club fee is $84.00 a year. After you are qualified. ( make sure you know the basics , safety rules ,etc , IE can fly your plane have control of it) you have use of the field 365 days a year for 10 am (11 on Sundays) to dusk.

Sorry broocey but I hadda. LOL

That sucks man, happened to me a while back with zero warning at all, just that fast I had to step down or take a 1300 buck severance package which is worthless. I couldn't step down and lose over a grand a month so I left. Sometimes it works out though, I went the next day to set up unemployment while I was looking. After I got done there I left and went looking right then. Went and talked with Crown fork lifts down the road and they were looking for a road tech ! After tests, drug screen, etc I am now with Crown making 6 bucks more an hour than where I was, a company van with a gas card and working more than I want to right now lol. I am working 50-60hrs a week but I know that won't last and the way things are I am saving all I can right now. Hang in there buddy, sometimes it works out for the better like it did for me !! Moroso is a 1/2 mile down the road from me. I will see what door Jesus opens for me.

Best advice was what you just said. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't agree or can't understand. It'll work out. Keep your "ears" open, and good luck.
