Greetings All,

Just to say hello to all. Been reading some the post on this forum, very nice reads... Just started to restore my 87 GN that was sitting in the garage for 12 years....Removed all of the interior, motor, and trany, tommorrow I'll remove the chassis....

I am glad I stumbled on this sight....Lots of info and help......

Glad to have U...

Not sure how many GNs are on the Island but I know one thing for sure is that there are a ton of the older imports with huge turbos running around. Thats what I call a Target Rich Environment! Happy hunting when U get the car done. And remember dont whip em too bad or they wont come back the next week for a rematch ;) .

Hey PR man,

Just wanted to say I love Puerto Rico. We've been there 3 times now...either originating and ending or during a cruise.

I use to wear GN shirts or T-shirts on our cruises, hoping some other passenger would approach me to say he has a GN. Never on any of our many cruises has anyone ever responded. EXCEPT once, arriving back in San Juan a customs agent looked at my shirt and said he had a GN.

We were at the head of the 2000 passenger's getting off line so I wasn't able to talk much to him since the inconsiderate 2000 :D kept shoving us ahead, but he was able to tell me that there was lots of racing in PR and that there were a lot of GN's.

Good luck in getting yours apart and back together. Keep in mind if you have a problem I'd be more than happy to fly over there at your expense and help you.:p

Welcome to the forum,

What part of PR do you live in? My family has lived there for generations. My dad lives in Cabo Rojo right now. My uncle is a big time prosecutor up in San Juan. His name is Fleming Castillo if that rings a bell.
Last time I was there I had my dad drive me all the way to the Salinas Dragstrip only to find that they had canceled the races that day :frown:

There is definitely a ton of drag racing there. I remember a TV show called "la fiebre" that just gave the highlights on all the motorsports on the island. Is that still on? It was pretty awesome. Drifting to drag racing to dirt drag racing.

IIRC one of the fastest turbo buicks in the world was based there. I forgot the guy's name but if I recall it was running in the 7s. There was definitely more boosted imports though. Rotaries seemed to be what most people were wrenching on.

anyway, good to have you

Welcome aboard !

eleon, welcome aboard boricua. I'm doing a complete frame off restorodding on my car too, so I know what ur going through. I'm a local, so if u need anything just pm me. Pablo, the car ur talking about doesn't exist anymore, it was involved in a fatal accident. It did run 7.40 @ 181 mph though...oh & rotaries suck :p

Not being rude but do you have pics of what was left? How did it wreck? I hate to here of a car with those capabilities being totalled.

That is great.... the hard part is looking for parts locally... I will PM you for some assistance.....

Boricuas!

Rotaries do suck. Right now i have my uncle in Rio Grandes convinced to do a 109 Turbo 6 in his datsun 210. The car is full tube chassis and would weight in less than 1800 lb.

Ask & u shall recieve...

The car was from Ponce...the driver/tuner was killed in the accident. Here's a vid of it the Saturday before the accident (Wednesday):
