They don't use much. I'd say it's about the same price as charcoal per use. Even smoking tenderloin for 3hrs, it doesn't use more than a few pounds.
When we cook steaks, it probably uses more because you want to cook them around 400 degrees so it's running on high speed.
When we cooked all those steaks in BG it may have used 5lbs.
And buddy we cooked a bunch of them!!

Seriously, there is no other choice if you can spring for it. I know for a fact we cooked over 80lb of steaks that evening and never had to do more than turn once and take off, not one flame up, and every steak cooked evenly!!!
