As we get closer to the National event date, questions may arise concerning various aspects of the race program.

If anyone has race questions or inquiries and are not sure who to ask or direct them to, I will assist in answering, or finding the person than can help.

My schedule will be as follows for phone assistance:

Monday - Friday 8-9 AM, 6-8 PM

Sunday - 6-8 PM

Local time in AZ is same as West coast time.

The main question is if you're gonna spring for the Shoney's breakfast buffet Friday morning!!

Prefer a local, home-owned place out in the "boonies".

Would be "honored" to buy you breakfast there Mike!:D

Nick, are you talking about Theresa's?

I know it's our favorite place....

ShariB

That is one of them! Roxie's is the other.:)

Mike will enjoy either.

TSS questions

From TSS rules:

"Factory stock type copper core radiator in stock location required."

"Stock transmission shifter required."

Does that mean no aluminum core radiators and no B&M / Hurst shifters?

Thanks, Beavis.

It is hard to tell someones tone on these boards. I don't know if you are being funny or a smart-ass.

Maybe you have been listening to to many "Dead Kennedy's" albums lately.

Didn't your mommy love you enough when you were a little boy?

Reminds me of what my wife always tells me:

"Not everything you think in your head needs to be repeated out loud". We must have the same problem.

I don't need a definition, and I am not saying the rules are ambigous, I am just asking if these two rules are up to date and are currently in effect?

I would think that a lot of people are running aluminum radiators and that more then a few people have aftermarket shifters.

I know the rule of having the battery in the engine compartment has been changed to "Battery, one (1) only and it may be in any location".

I still need an answer...

BTW, Scott, I don't hate you, John 15:18.

And what did you think I was going to say?

.............

Scott has a good sense of humor, albeit a wierd one.:D

You should meet him in person, that is always a real "treat". Will tell you my story about our first meeting years ago.

He is usually just as sarcastic, EXCEPT when he is working with the TSM cars, then he is REAL serious.:)

Your answer is what current rules state for the class, that is what will be enforced. Scott and Lonnie Diers are the tech inspectors for all T-R classes.

Thanks Nick.

Did everyone have a copper core radiator last year and years prior?

Does "Stock transmission shifter" mean no "air shifters" or no "B&M quarter stick" type shifter?

How can they allow aftermarket wheels, turbo, injectors, intercooler etc, but not allow an aftermarket radiator?

I must admit that does sound kinda stange...I could see a rule that says they have to be in a unmodified core support or that they have to fit within the sme area as the stocker with no modifications...Don't understand why what it's made of matters.

Let me just give some info to try and help. The GSCA rules were drafted years ago and do get modified over time. Last year, I think September, was the cut-off for any proposed changes to be considered. These are to be submitted to Jim West, rules comittee Chairman.

Scott, Lonnie, Ron, myself, and others just help run the event and enforce the rules for the benefit of all racers. We cannot change rules, but do help intrepert them.

For example, if the rule said "stock type" shifter, a B&M would be acceptable, air or electric shifters not.

One of the goals of the GSCA National event is to provide a "place" welcoming ALL Buick fans and racers to participate and enjoy. In the many years I have been involved in this event, only this year has there been so much greater interest from old and new participants. [Thanks to the internet!]

It is because of input and support from the members that this event continues to grow and get better. This will be only the 3rd year of the most popular and talked about class - TSM. It was conceived by members, and the rules made by members. A few rule changes were made last year.

You asked very valid questions. Now remember to submit them during the rule change period this summer. The dates and procedures will be on the GSCA web site and will be linked here as well.

Thank you, Nick.

FYI, the rules say "Stock transmission shifter required", not "Stock type transmission shifter required".:D

FYI - the "stock type" shifter quote of Nick's was an example...maybe he should have said "For example", oh wait, he did.

Had you asked what you meant to ask, i.e. "Are the rules posted on the GSCA website correct, specifically the TSS radiator and shifter rules?" you would have received a concise without one of my patented smart-ass answers.;)

Don't feel bad, well over 90% of the people on this board do not ask precisely worded questions and as a result thereof, potential answers go unposeted cuz those with the answers aren't sure of what is asked. Unfortunately, Internet-speak lends itself to such inane posts.:(

lol.

Maybe instead of reading Henry Rollins "Get in the van", you should have read Dale Carnegies "How to win friends and influence people".

But you already have enough friends, don't you...

:D

double parking.

going to the nats is great , i have been mouth off to, called names, still love to go, my only problem with the past two years people double park along the fence, that makes it hard to get down the drive, we have parked behind the bleachers west of the rest rooms for the last 8 years there are four of us and we like to park there, nick you did a good job last year i think you, at our age you try to make ever year your best because next year we may not be around. lol, oc,

Thanks OC, we do try harder every year. And it gets better too!

As far a being around, as grumpy and cantankerous as we are, we will hopefully be around along while to show the "youngsters" some of the things we had to learn the hard way!:D

When we get as old and grumpy as "Mean Scott", then we have to worry.;)
